Okay, I have my three-legged LEDs to put in the front PCB, but I have a problem...

I don't know which legs to put where.

The middle one (the longest) is obviously the ground, and goes in the middle, since I have no other choice.

Then there's a leg that is slightly shorter, and one that is slightly shorter than that.

The LED's primary color is blue, and secondary is red. That's what the site said, anyway. So how do I know which end is which? And from there, which hole do I put that one in?

If you can figure out what I'm trying to ask from that crude drawing, I'd appreciate any help.

Confused

Hmm, I thought the middle would be ground.
I dosent matter though from what Im about to tell ya.
You want to put this in the front on the Powerbutton assembely right?

There should be a notch cut into the LED. Look twards the led with the pins pointing away from your eyes so that you see a circle. Do you see a notch of some sort on the lip that makes it not quite a circle. Thats an industry standard (for 2 pin LEDs at least) that shows which lead is the anode. Take note of where it is then turn around and look at your Xbox's LEDs. As long as the notch is facing the same direction when you put it in you should be fine. You shouldnt have to worry about wether the ground is switched around. Engeneers are real funny about keeping standards, it makes their's and the designers job easier.

If for some reason there is no notch take the pins and touch each one to the existing LED's pins while the xbox is on. Make sure the middle pin of your LED is on the middle pin of the Xbox's, so there will be 2 possible positions. Try it one way, then flip it over and try the other. It wont hurt the Xbox, the extra led acts as a current divider annd cuts total resistance in half. Thats ok if done for a moment. And remember, try not to short the pins!

If this didnt help or you need more feel free to ask. Im saying all of this from the top of my head, but if Im wrong Ill open up the front panel and check it out for ya.

Godspeed slick!

Awesome man. That helped more than you could imagine.

I spent an hour looking around Xbox-Scene for the info. All I could find was people saying it was easier to find two-leggers and install them than to find and buy three-leggers.

After you pointed it out, I noticed the notch right away and even saw that it's marked on the PCB as to which way to orient it! The new LEDs are installed and (hopefully) gonna work perfectly. Thanks a mil. Now if I could just find my wire snips...

I'm not sure if you can fix my jewel. It's pretty crapped up. Take a look'see...

I just did my jewel and it looked pretty close to that. All I did was use a big bottle of crazy glue and poored it all over the back then used tin foil to touch it here and there. Now it has a frosted icy look to it. It's kinda what I wanted with the blue lights I am using. Forget LED lol I took apart a case fan I had with a 80mm round cold cathode bulb Smile

Dude, on your advert. the xbox with the blue lighting. It that your box?
That pic is hella sweet. What did you do to the back of your controller ports to get that look (if that is yours that is)
I took a look at the ports on my box and I fear I would weaken the prongs in the middle. I would hate for one of thoes to break.
