Hello, first off let me say that I am dedicated xbox owner and love the xbox above any other system, so please don't flame me for asking about a PS2. I have looked over the internet and can not find a PS2 website that is like this site anywhere, this site rocks! Now on with my question. I am getting ready to put a modchip in my PS2. I have baught a Duo 2 chip. I was wanting to know if after installing the chip do I have to flash a bios and load a dashboard on it or is that just an xbox thing? I remember when I first put a chip in my xbox, I didn't know what all was involved, it was a nightmare trying to get my xbox running again. But once I did it was amazing all the stuff that can be done with it. I have read some things and it sounds like after the chip is installed in the PS2, that is all you have to do. If someone has a modified playstation 2 or knows about this could you please let me know what is involved? Thanks!!!

Since this is an Xbox modding site, I doubt you're gonna find too many people that know about PS2 mods. I would recommend checking out the WebLinks module at the top of this site to find more general console modding sites, and ask your question again there.
If you want my complete guess, though, I would assume that since the PS2 doesn't have a hard drive to load files from, there's a spot on the motherboard somewhere that contains the ps2 equivalent of the msdash, which is modified by the chip you install. No clue though if they come preflashed or what...
Like I said, you're better off asking at a more general modding site.
Sorry I couldn't help, padre. [/url]

It will still use its original "Dashboard" You just boot things off cd and dvd-r, you can also get the network adapter and a hard drive and then you can have a HDD in ure PS2 liek an xbox, including installing apps etc.
I only know a little but check out www.ps2-scene.com
It has plenty of info. _________________

The Duo2 se in probably the best value PS2 chip out there at the moment.
Once installed you do not have to do anything else ie flash bios. You can't can't flash the bios actually unlike the dms4 chips.
Duo2se is also compatiable with hd advance all versions. You can also use PS2 reality to play vcd, mp3's etc. _________________ V1.4

I would recommend a dms4 ez, their installation is sorderless and it's bios is the closest thing to what you have experienced with your xbox. If you just want to play backup games and don't mind swaping 1 or 2 disc or if you wnat to install a hard drive on your ps2 I can hook you up with an cd image to install and exploit on your memory card and play without a modchip. The image includes the hdadvance (play games from dvd) execftp (ftp server for ps2) hdldump server (to install games over a network on your hd) and some other goodies. Just let me know! _________________ 2 Xbox V 1.0
