Been trying to get this chip to work that arrived this morning in my v1.1 X-Box.
I've done it the solderless way and have looked at every guide I can follow. I'm not suprised to be honest as the rivets they supply are tiny and much, much smaller than the pins that Im trying to shove into them. Even when I tighten the screw up the solderless adapter pins push the adapter up so it does not sit anywhere near flush with the motherboard.
I'm not impressed with this method at all. Now when I turn the X-Box on it just boots up as normal, as if there's no modchip there at all. I can see the chip itself is lit up red inside so it is getting power.
I've tried to reinstall 3 times now. Any idea's? _________________ X-Box v1.1,

It sounds like the D0 isn't connecting right. I personally only use the soldering pin header method, so I have never seen the solderless adapter.
But, if the D0 isn't being recognized, then your chip will still get power but it won't tell the xbox to boot with the chip.
Check your D0 connection and get back to me, I bet that is your issue.

Well I looked about even more and come across the 'paper trick' for the solderless Xenium. Someone ran a poll and it helped 65% of users! including me. Though I also removed those pathetic rivets that come with the solderless kit, WTF are they all about??? I really can't believe someone has got one of these chips working with those things in, they're pathetic.
The chip now sits perfectly flush with the motherboard just as good as if it had been soldered I've banged the X-box while it was upside down to try and disturb the chip but it doesn't budge now
Powered it up and low and behold it works, the Xenium OS boots up straight away. Just formatting this old 80gb Western Digital SE PATA drive from my PC now so I can stick that in for the time being.
Could also have been the D0 like you said realmccloy (help appreciated btw ) I gave that another good clean with Acetone ( Isopropyl Alcohol is pretty hard to get hold of over here in 'old blighty' , tried 10 chemists and they looked at me as if I was strange when I asked for it ) after reading what you said.
Anyway, no doubt I'll get stuck again before I'm up and running in the way I want to be. _________________ X-Box v1.1,
