Suppose I have a game which I feel is excellent in almost every single regard, but I find the audio quality to be a little low, like Stranger's Wrath. There exists an HD port that has improved audio quality, but there are a number of changes I do not like. My dream version would be to have the HD sounds, but the original look. It's quite possible for me to get most, if not all, of the HD sounds.

But what I'm wondering is if it is possible to modify the Xbox game files to update the original set of sounds with a new set of sounds? Or rather, not just if it is possible, but if it would be extremely difficult and require a complete recoding and recompiling of the game or I could get away with just replacing some files with a new set of files and hoping it doesn't require more memory than the Xbox has available?

I won't ask anyone to do any work for me, but I'd like to know if there is any chance this would work or even be possible.

it may be possible. Most likely, it will not be easy to do. How hard the task will be depends upon how that game stores and accesses its audio content.
