So I have an original Xbox and the first thing I did was give a good clean and then changed 3 caps that were leaked. it was not too bad and then I turned on the Xbox and everything was working.

Now I had look online and some of my games don't work so I did the laser volage and got down to 456.

Whenever I try to load a game it goes to error 21 and doing some research it was something do with dah bord but at the same time power supply started to smell.

To see one of my problems is:

https://youtu.be/mJk0xEcuQ3E
I have tied any game I put in I get error 21 halo 2 also.

Now as for the power supply did see this site here
http://store.richspsxparts.com/newxbposu.html
but I do not know if I have 1.0 - 1.5 Xbox or 1.6 as stated on their website.
This website is the only place I could find for a brand new one.

As for the hard drive I want to use a cheap "M.2 NGFF SATA SSD to 2.5 IDE 44pin Converter Adapter with Case Black / White Color SATAIII Connector SDD Converter Card Adapter" it has IDE 44pin so was wondering if any ones if this will work as i was going to buy this but have no idea if this work?

NEED HELP!

From the sounds of it something is wrong with your DVD drive I don't know how to fix that part but for the power supply I could sell one to you for way cheaper than that site and you will need to take a pic of the whole motherboard for me too know what version of the motherboard it is and for the HDD upgrade I would use this https://www.ebay.com/itm/153964247236 these are what everyone uses to upgrade there HDD in there Xbox.

Well upgrading hard drive you need to make sure your xbox is modded you have a 1.4 xbox so psu 1.2-1.4 will work and i would look up tsop flash (winbond)(thats your chipset) and follow the guide for 1.2-1.4 on the tube. Then you will be able to upgrade your drive. Also you dont ever want to go down below 500 on a pot tweak it will ruin the laser fast. The dashboard error could be a couple things best to mod then install new hard drive and dash but the psu i would take it out look at the bottom side around where you plug in at with the cord there is 2 spots that sometimes the solder breaks off fixing this with some more solder might fix your issue as i have had a psu make noise too and did that fix and it fixed the problem might fix your 21 error to because then no loss of power or anything you know great things to try.

What happens if I don't remove the capacitor? How do even remove this capacitor as I don't have anything that takes this of?
Also was wondering do you have any power supply for this xbox?

Cleanest way to remove the clock cap is to hold it in your off hand and heat up the two solder points on the opposite side of the board as you gently pull the clock cap. Do this one at a time (back and forth) and you will feel it start to pull. Go back and forth until you’ve pulled it out completely. Once you are done, clean under where the cap was with some isopropyl alcohol or lemon juice if it had already leaked badly. Or as Scar mentioned you can just wiggle until it breaks off, but you’ll be left with two stubs sticking out making it slightly harder to clean the area and it could take a while depending how close the cap was soldered on to begin with. Sometimes they’re are very close and hard to wiggle.

Your Xbox is either a 1.2/1.3. No easy way to tell which.

Identifying features:

20-pin ATX-style power supply connector (1.2/1.3/1.4/1.6/1.6(b))
Conexant Video Encoder (1.0/1.1/1.2/1.3)

Crossover of versions for this console

1.2-1.3

There are three different styles of Xbox Power Supply Units (PSUs):

v1.0-v1.1 12x1 pin AT-style connector
v1.2-1.4 10x2 pin ATX-style connector with 3.3 Vdc standby power out
v1.6/1.6(b) 10x2 pin ATX-style connector with 5 Vdc standby power out

There are several different brands/models of PSUs across these three different styles.

You need to make sure the style you purchases matches the style required by Xbox version. There are also 220VAC and 120VAC models depending upon your countries power grid voltage level.

This may help identifying your version.
