I'm new to all this and i'm planning on getting the Xenium Ice mod chip. I've read a lot of guides and tutorials and I have a good understanding of how to install the chip but i'm still confused about all this Bios stuff. I'm not sure what bios i'm supposed to use. I did a bit of reading and I found the EvolutionX M8 bios and was wondering if that bios could be used with this chip?

You can use just about any bios with the Xenium but you need to use cetain bios' with certain version machines.
If you have a 1.6 xbox, the M8 bios is gold! Use it! If you have a 1.5 or lower, I would use an Xecuter2 4983 bios. You can use the 4983.06 if you have a HD less than 250GB, but I would use a 4893.67 bios with a larger than 250GB...
The bios is very important to your mod. The chip is pretty useless without a good bios. The bios pretty much is the rule maker...and rule breaker in regard to what you can or cannot do on your machine.
If you have any questions more specific to the bios or the Xenium modchip please don't hesitate to ask.

Hi Mordith,
Yes the M8 would be fine.. Really there are that many bioses that come out you should just find one with features you need the first time round.
Then you will never really have a need to flash it again unless your a techy and love playing with that sort of stuff!
The M8 is good but make sure you use the one which has LBA Support for XBOX HDD's over 137gb in size.. Download the XBOXHQ BIOS CD PACK which 'djb' has made for us all.. His bioses support larger hdd's and all the latest features.
Thanks for the help guys. I'm not sure what the difference between the M8 and the Xecuter2 bios is so i'll have to do some reading on those. I followed a guide to figure out which xbox version I have and its either a 1.4 or 1.5 so I might just end up using the Xecuter2 bios.
I have tried to download the XBOXHQ BIOS CD PACK but the bittorrent link doesn't work and the other link doesn't work because I don't have VIP access.

Ok, if the bittorrent is dead i would suggest trying our DIRECT CONNECT hub.. Its free and im sure one of the members will have it.
Read more about how to connect to our hub here:

I would suggest downloading DCPLUS PLUS because the DIRECT CONNECT version we offer is very old now! Get DC PLUS PLUS from here and then just connect to our hub.. Hub info is on the DC pages of he xboxhq site.
Im interested in getting a modchip for my xbox to, its a 1.6 and I'm either gunna buy an AppleX VI Pro, or a Duo-x2. Now what is the deal with the bioses? im a lil confused, like ia a bios compatible with more than one modchip and, what bios is for what modchip?

For the V1.6 there appear to be special versions like the M8+. It's not mod chip specific for the most part but Xbox version specific in some cases. The Evox bios and dashboard are two different items. The bios just happens to have a name close to the dashboard of Evox. But if you think of the bios separately, that's what the machine uses to boot up and understand what it's allowed or not allowed to do. Changing the bios from retail M$ to M8 allows a backed up game to run for instance. Then you need to be able to navigate around,so you install a dashboard like Evox, Avalaunch, etc....
There is a guide to bios' at http://www.xbox-scene.com/bios_retail.html . This will help to determine what bios you want. Then just install a dashboard. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th
