Somebody on another forum was asking about the possibility of installing selected XL Arcade offline installer games as standalones. Is this possible?

You'd think it would be simple as the games all have a "default.xbe" but it is not. Only a small number when installed in "Games" actually work and all but one of those I've tested flag up an error about damaged content even though they play OK.

Of the others when installed in "Games" the majority I've tested either freeze the Xbox or reboot it back to the main dash. A few load the game but with issues eg. Hamsterball plays without sound.

BTW Alien Sky is one of those 480p v1.6 Xbox problem games ie. it will not play in 480p on a v1.6 Xbox. It is OK when launched from the XL Arcade installer/launcher but whilst it launches as a standalone, with damaged content message, it only displays correctly if you use 480i.

The CDX tool that the XL Arcade launcher disc/installer uses is actually what cures that problem. Rocky5's XBMC script fixing the v1.6 480p problem for most games uses the CDX.xbe as one of the launchers.

Yeah they all have a seperate XBE that they can be launched by. When you install them look in TDATA for the individual games then just move them to Games or Emus etc and launch like any other game. Just make sure you media patch every xbe or as you saw it will kick errors. Also some CDX games use path patch back to run default.xbes that are not in the root directory. For those you have to use a hex editor to manually change the directory it patchs back.

Ive pulled a bunch more hidden games. Most are pretty easy to do since its just an xbe and dat file but the ones on Ninja Gaiden are gonna be a bitch as the data files for the hidden games are mixed/shared with the main files so I have to go through one by one and figure which files I can dump.

Heres the 2 hiddent TMNT games for anybody that doesnt want to wait for the compilation disc. The default.xbe for both have have been ran through dexbe and had their init, media and region flags patched to work on any console and from any media source. Both games were ripped from PAL versions and tested on my NTSC 1.6b XBOX

Turtles In Time

EDIT
Heres Spy Hunter. This was ripped from a PAL version. Spy.xbe is the original PAL xbe and Spyrf.xbe is one I patched for all regions and media types. Simply rename the one you are going to use to default.xbe. Tested and working on NTSC 1.6b XBOX

Ryukenden (US) from Ninja Gaiden Black. XBE is unpatched and for NTSC consoles. Tested on NTSC 1.6b
http://www.mediafire.com/file/hxrqkg6x9ijm6i7/Ryukenden.zip/file

Prince Of Persia 1 and 2 from Prince Of Persia: Sands of Time NTSC. Default.xbe is the original unpatched NTSC and POPS1RF and POPS2RF.xbe have been patched for all regions and media sources.

And House Of The Dead 2

This ranked as third most annoying game to get to work. Normally you would play House Of The Dead 3 and beat it to unlock House Of The Dead 2. And they also obviously expected you to launch HOTD2 via the HOTD3 menu because when you boot HOTD3 it creates certain files on Z drive that are required to run HOTD2. So long story short HiddenGems has an ENABLE option for HOTD2 that you have to run prior to playing House Of The Dead 2

This sucker is just about ready to hit the stores. I made a few changes and removed 2 games that were not working 100% and added a new game that as of yet has had no issues. I had a few XBLA games not in the XBOX LIVE OFFLINE INSTALLER dropped on me this morning and will try to add them.

Hidden Gems Collection at present with icons and preview videos

Check your GMAIL I dropped you a DL link yesterday Very Happy

And I bit the bullet and ordered another Ninja Gaiden if this one doesnt work I give up lol

And some HiDef goodness
HGC running at 480P HD and recorded using my cell phone since my screen cap hardware is trash and can only take a 480i SD feed. At 720P and 1080i it looks phenomanal. This is great but 720P momma-mia Very Happy

A nice guy on Youtube saw one of my previous vids and decided to kick in and passed me the Mortal Kombat 1 Arcade standalone from one of the Gamestop Kiosk discs. So yeah there will be a slight delay as I add yet another game Very Happy Dont think anybody is gonna complain though. For people that I gave a prerelease build to no worries I got you covered and will pass you a small update package that will simply add the game to your existing setup. No need to download everything again

Thanks for the work preparing this collection. Downloaded it earlier today
and I have just had a minor issue with it. Not with the download but FTPing it to my Xbox.

Two files repeatedly failed to transfer: they are two Album JPGs (AlbumArt_Large and AlbumArt-Small) inside the Skins folder. For some unknown reason Windows is treating them, along with some other files in there too, as system files. By default that means they are not displayed by Windows.

They are visible in the FTP Client (FileZilla) but the trouble is they also have a very long number/letter ID attached.

I'm pretty sure that ID string is the cause of the FTP problem, pushing the folder/file name just beyond the Xbox's supported character limit. The other AlbumArtSmall.jpg ie. without the hyphen transferred without issue.

It is only a minor matter and easily dealt with by renaming them without the ID string but why are there hidden files in the Skin folder anyway?
