So like the title says, I have a V1.6 still with the gold clock cap installed everything works great except some emu's will not work with 720x480 or 480i because the screen is garbled so because of this what good is a soft modded (UnleashX using SID 5.11) V1.6 Xbox? I cant use it for emulation which is what I was hoping for is the V1.6 basically useless and not worth bothering with for the emulation side?
Xbox Halo Green Limited Edition v1.4
Clock Cap Removed
Soft modded

I don't know enough about emulators on the Xbox and what particular problems a v1.6 with Xcalibur video processor may cause to be able to answer that.

As I said elsewhere the v1.6 480p issue with some original Xbox games is the only problem I know about for certain. Whether it effects some emulators/ROMs as well I only suggested was a possibility.

I hope some here knows for sure because I'd be interested to know the answer too.

Certain Madmab emulators need to have the skin and settings switched. For example if you load up Snes9x in 720p with the emulator set with the 480i skin it will get all screwed up. Its very annoying but boot in SD switch the skin and settings to HD then reboot the XBOX in HD (terrible setup but it is what it is)

You can confirm or deny encoder issues simply by using an emulator with on the fly video switching like KIxxx1.2. If you can boot it in SD and HD and have no issue switching the resolution in the KIxxx menu then you know the XBOX is fine. If it also gets garbled video then you need to start looking at other possible problems. Like the force progrssive patch included in SID for example

There are also good alternatives for problem emulators
Mednafenx NES- NestopiaX or Penny Ops FTW
Snes9XBOX - ZSNEX3.7+ or Penny Ops FTW
NeoGenesis - NeoGensPlusGX or Penny Ops FTW
MekaX - SMSPlusX or Penny Ops FTW

Yeah, I feel your pain on changing the emulator resolution. What worked for me was I booted in SD, then noted all the button presses needed to change the resolution. Then boot in HD, launch the emulator and press the buttons I noted earlier to change it to 480p. For the 3 emulators I did it was the same sequence: Down, Down, A; Down, A; Down, Down, A; Down, A, B. Kind of silly, but its pretty easy to do now that I know it!

i softmod xbox 1.6s usually and i have a cdx disc with nes, snes, sega, atari ect. no n64 or ps1 but just most the other ones it plays them fine. other wise i strip 1.6 xboxs for parts like controller ports, fan, dvd drive, Mobo Caps, Heatsinks, and Ram for upgrading on older mobos. But again i get 1.6s for the dirt so i can do this and it varies for others in other places sometimes xboxs cost $20-50 i pay around $5 to $8 for a console. More when games come in with them but thats a whole different game there ha.
