Got this incomplete console from a friend, and found this mod chip installed. It's not soldered on. There's spring-loaded pins which press down on the mobo. There's also a small circuit board with a USB port on it. The same USB port found on many Sony devices, like the PS3 controller. Do any of you know which mod chip this is? Also there was a red 3-way switch that fell out of the console, I'm not sure if it's related or not, it seems to fit in the hole that was cut into the back of the console where the USB port was hanging out. I'm pretty familiar with soft-modding, but hardware mods is uncharted territory for me.

Looks like an X-B.I.T chip - I've attached what info I have on the chip, although I'm no modchip guru !

avast! detected a virus in your file. Please check it.

I think you're right about it being an X-B.I.T. chip. Thanks. Smile

It looks like the xbit flashing software is being flagged up as suspicious ! I've re-attached the file minus the xbit flashing software.

Figures. I know you just removed it, but do you think you could send me that software? I actually need it and can't find it anywhere...

Had I known that's what avast was bitching about I wouldn't have said anything.
