I didn't realize i had an account on here for 7 years! LOL. I just want to say as my FIRST post since 06 (Ever lol) that you guys rock and SID is the way to go. I have blown through Xbox's over the years and have learned everything I could from you guys!

I remember scouring pawn shops all over town to get my hands on the lucrative 1.0 box and I finally got one. GenttoX here I comer. And I'm sure you guys know about going through the hassle to upgrade the HDD.. Those old ass PC towers were like gold to me in the days of SATA and Laptops. Thank god I learned about Chimp last year lol...

But anyways I wanted to introduce myself after lurking for 7 years and say Hi and rock on XBOX!

Also to SPPV to answer you question about your topic HERE that is a cable used to hook up a 5.6 or 7 inch mini LCD screen to your Xbox. Here is a Pic:

Sorry for double post too.[/img]

I know what you mean about those v1.0 xbox consoles!

I got lucky and bought one from a guy on craigslist for $25 bucks. It comes with that cute little cooling fan for the GPU. Sure it noticeable with it's noise though.

That xbox screen attachment looks pretty cool. So you don't just plug composite or component cables into that tv? You need xbox av adapter male-male cables to plug into that screen?

Who needs an xbox 360 laptop, when you got a screen for your original xbox right? Laughing

Nice to see you came back. Awesome!

Yeah if you want to run GentooX the 1.6 would not cut it. and yeah I am glad to be back lol. I never left I just lurked hard.

I wanted to do a car mod for the Xbox: put in that screen on the dash with the xbox mounted under the glove compartment but i never got around to it. OR mount the screen above passenger side airbag for long trips to play SNES or other systems and use an inverter to power the console or a direct wire to battery etc. Me and my friend wanted XBMC to push beats into our cars with AUX port and subs and then not worry with CD's and all. We had a GREAT concept but irl got the best of us.

One thing that I wish the scene had was SID with no shadow C though. When I started modding at 17 I knew you did NOT touch the C: drive anyways. But i digress

I just fixed a v1.0 and modded an LG DVD rom-drive to work in it.
I haven't finished it upgrading the HDD to 1TB as I am waiting for the Sata to IDE adapter.
I have no idea what GentooX is, I must be missing out on something good.

Gentoo is a linux distro thats basically a build-your-own Linux environment. GentooX is obviously an Xbox port that uses Xromwell to boot it.

GentooX is a nerd's dream as you can build it from the shell up or just use a live distro to run firefox and GAIM etc. 1.6 box's had that horrid video converter chip that made linux not display properly (driver issue) that's why I always checked the white sticker on the bottom of the Xbox before I bought it.

Anyways, I will ALWAYS support CHIMP from now on. Screw xboxhdm and having to keep a Pentium 4 laying around. Plug and play baby! I got a WD 250 drive off amazon for 35$ Molex Splitter 4$ and Crossover Cable 6$. Cannot beat that

SPPV and another person mentioned CHIMP has bug issues. Granted it's nice not to have to use an old computer. But SPPV's installer and xbox hard drive creation programs worked like a boss with an old computer. It was pesky for me to find an old enough computer with a good BIOS allowing me to lock and unlock hard drives...

I can't remember their exact reasons, but considering how much SPPV knows, I would be wary of CHIMP.

*Disclaimer - I have never used CHIMP for hard drive upgrades* lol

It never gave me any issues. I just loaded up the files on the Drive, booted Xromwell and then at the Linux boot menu swapped he IDE cables. Bam! lol
Wet through the process, locked it an rebooted and it worked. Took 12 minutes on a virgin 8GB

If you get CHIMP 2618 should work ok,
Here is a thread from Xtras Heimdall explains how easy it is.

Please don't link to external sites anymore. They can get their members the hard way just like we had to.. The information is on Xbox-HQ already.

Hobbs emuxtras has never tried to take traffic away from HQ. They barely have more than 100 users. It's more of a site for developers to talk. They'll probably serve the same purpose as HQ has.

What I don't understand is this sudden change of mood on your part. If someone linked to an old xbox-scene picture or thread in the past, I never noticed you bat an eye. Why does it suddenly matter if someone posts a tutorial link from emuxtras. Information is information. They asked the question here right? We just gave them an answer to their question. If I'm the one who asked the question, I'm going to keep coming back because the site I originally asked the question on had a prompt answer here already, instead of being forced to discover the answer on my own.

There's no need to censor anything unless it came from TiZ Laughing especially after that stupid flaming argument they had here the past summer.

@ halofan102
That CHIMP 2618 post was for you.
Heimdall is a Dev for the HeXen boot disc so he knows his stuff.

So I've heard. I was just quoting amiga and SPPV. But SPPV liked Heimdall too. So CHIMP is probably not buggy anymore. Maybe Amiga dealt with the first iteration of CHIMP's code

I actually found it off a Youtube video. I dont know WHAT version I used, but it worked. Imagine ALL the stress of Xboxhdm: Put together ISO, make it, burn it, shutdown PC, switch cables, fix BIOS< etcccccccc, and then doing all that by running ONE app off E drive in 10 minutes... Now that is NICE.
