ok here is dilema
i have a softmodded xbox and a chipped xbox
i want to upgrade my hard drive in the softmod but only large drives i have cannot be locked with xboxhdm. i think i have done it before but had something to do with config magic and my chipped xbox and locking it and then putting into softmodded xbox..if anyone can just point me to a guide or something that would be great..i have tried searching but maybe im not wording it right..

backup the hdd key / eeprom from your softmod, and load that eeprom onto your chipped box. once loaded you can lock the hdd to that eeprom and swap to the softmodded box. _________________ Please post all PC Questions at PC-HQ.com
ok just so i am clear, i can use evolution x to backup the eeprom and hd key
then transfer it from softmod xbox to pc via flashfxp then i can load it on the chipped xbox and lock the drive with the softmods eeprom..what program shoulld i use to load the eeprom on the chipped xbox, config magic?

If using Configmagic put the eeprom.bin from the softmodded XBOX in the DATA folder of Configmagic.
Just for clarification what was the error you got with XBOXHDM? If it was Security Frozen Cannot Lock then thats actually a BIOS issue and not a HDD issue and can be overcome by going into the PC BIOS and disabling Auto Detection on the Primary IDE Channel (some say Manual as opposed to Disable)
But if the HDDs are missing the security layer then a XBOX will have the same result as a PC....BUPKIS
i went into the pc bios, but did not see anything about auto detection, anything eles it could be, my pc i am using is older too...i have 4 80 gig drives sitting here and all say the same frozen error.

here is where i am now
epprom loaded onto chipped xbox with softmodded hard drive..its booted up i ftped config magic to the xbox..
now just got to make the eeprom locked hard drive so i can put it into softmodded xbox.
looking up a config magic tutorial so i do it proper.
i have options in config magic like
load xbox eeprom
load eeprom from .bin
build eeprom
on the fly edit eeprom
unlock hdd
lock hdd
create backup files
update eeprom
i would assume load eeprom from .bin would refer to teh one i put in the data folder from my softmodded xbox.
so i would imagine that i would do the load eeprom from .bin option
then do the lock hdd option
i believe this is correct
just got threw a tutorial..will post aafter with my results
