What you are talking about is a 2 step process

Step 1-Modding It
You have 2 (maybe 3 depending on your XBOX revision) choices.

Softmod-The easiest, quickest and safest method. The hardware isnt modified, just the software. You can play burned games, games off the hard drive, install homebrew apps and emulators and upgrade the hard drive to a larger one.

Chip-This requires a chip with a custom BIOS to be soldered to your board and some software to be installed on the hard drive.

TSOP-This only works on XBOX v1-1.5. You connect the write points on the board, use softmod BIOS app, flash the TSOP chip with a custom BIOS and install a dashboard.

Step 2-Upgrading The HDD
Main perk over Chip/TSOP if you use a BIOS that has HDD tools you can just pop a blank HDD in the XBOX and turn it into a XBOX HDD

With softmod best method of upgrading the HDD requires a PC to hook the new HDD up to. You can do it on the XBOX by hotswapping and cloning but I dont recomend that.

If you want to use a SATA HDD you will need to get a SATA/IDE adapter that has Jumper Settings. If it doesnt have Jumper Settings the XBOX wont see the HDD.

Okay, i will see the version of my xBox...
But about the softmod (quickest and safest), after some months when i insert a new DVD Game, they no will force me to update the system of xBox and block again '-' ?
The hardware i said can prevent this?

Dont worry about that lol. If you use Babylon and pick one of the Shadow C mods your XBOX is pretty much unfuckable from a software point of view.

You have multiple layers of protection keeping things like that from happening. #1 the Shadow C any update.xbe (thats the executeable in games that does the dash update) will just update the "fake" C drive and all it will be doing is overwriting the exact same files. It cant touch your "Real" C drive. Plus you will also have a recovery partition. If for what ever reason it cant boot the files on C it will boot the files on V drive which is locked and untouchable short of removing the HDD and hooking it to a PC. Plus chances are its not something you will need to worry about. Only way the dash update could even happen is if you click on the update.xbe of a game in file explorer. Even if you hit Connect to Live by accident in a game (the normal way you would update the dash to 5960) it wont have anything to update because your fake C drive will have the 5960 dash.

Wink
because it's NOT his work and therefore, under NO obligation to offer support on it!
it makes sense to support ones own works as it was written by ones self! (they can account for it's usage as it's their baby)
....
as a ONE-TIME user of chimp, I'LL say it, I'LL NOT recommend it's usage as it's unstable and unpredictable! (results may vary?!)
the ball lies in your court! Cool

Definitely good to mention that you had trouble with chimp (assuming you used the program properly).

The only reason for suggesting chimp is that it doesn't require an old computer, which does have its advantages considering how annoying certain BIOS interfaces can be about hard drive locking.

Because Chimp REQUIRES a hotswap. Even if you have the eeprom, you still have to hotswap. And all the horror stories Ive heard and all the people Ive helped who followed the instructions and got a semi-paperweight means I will never reccomend it. Far as Im concerned its a use at your own risk app.

Each to their own I guess. I will say IF anybody choses to use CHIMP use the latest build by ldotsfan. Hes a pro so its a good bet he worked out the bugs that were present in the original builds by Chimpanzee
