My original Xbox will not turn on by pressing the power or disc tray buttons. There is no light, smoke, or smell either. I can start the Xbox for half a second by pressing the reset button but it turns off after that. I do not know what to do because i tried all the outlets and power cords (NORMAL AND XBOX PROTECTION POWER CORD) i have available at the moment only the little 12 volt fan spin for a second but then is dead. It was working a few hours before when I was adding roms to the emulators in the XBMC4XBOX 3.2 Dashboard PLEASE HELP ME. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

This might happen if the Xbox is shorted somewhere, I know it happens with modern PSUs. Check every connector inside the Xbox for shorts. If this doesn't work, disconnect the drives and try again.

If it still does the same thing, look for corrosion on the bottom of the motherboard around traces going to the front panel.

There is a chance it is a BIOS problem if you have a modchip. Check to see if you can boot to a different BIOS selection with the switches.

I agree with Prehistoric. I'm thinking that it's going to be a power supply issue or a short issue. You definitely need to check to see if the connections are all good.
