So I want to update my HDD but I only have a 160g Seagate HDD that is SATA. So here's my plan: TSOP, Flash the bios, and make it so it skips the DVD-Check. Then My Next move is to remove the IDE Cable along with the DVD Drive and Old HDD. I then plan on using an adapter I have (SATA To IDE) and plugging it into the board. So then I'll Have MotherBoard->Adapter->SATA Cable-> HDD. I plan on using xbhdm to create the new HDD from scratch. Will this plan work? Any advice or tips, if it's even possible ? I just really want to be able to fit more then 2 games on my HDD.

1. Not every IDE-SATA adapter works with Xbox.
2. When you have flashed TSOP, easier and faster method to prepare your HDD is just via auto-installer.

Get an adapter that hooks to the IDE cable not the MOBO. That way you dont have to lose the DVD. XBOX with no DVD is a very bad thing. Many times short of pulling the HDD out only way to fix issues on XBOX is via boot-disc.

I have one running a laptop sata drive in a slim case I built a few years ago, it still works like a champ. I bought the cheapest ebay adapter I could find, cost about a dollar. Only thing it won't do is boot linux for some reason. If you need I can pull the cover off and take a pic so you can get the same one.

You can also grab UnleashX and make a folder called BackupC and 1 called BackupE make an ISO, burn to disc and boot the XBOX with it. It will auto run a script to format the HDD then copy over the files from the backup folders
