oie!

Going to get a new Hard Drive for my old "black" Xbox. Now I would be happy if someone could give me tips on what to get and what will fit for my soft modded Xbox. Now I have a Seagate 40gigabytes in it. And I would like to have maybe 100 gigabytes or more.

Can anyone give me links to discs that will fit?

UnleashedX. Softmodded.

Has your console already been softmodded? And I would recommend staying under 137GB HDD unless you have a modchip or the console is a v1.5 or lower. Any hard drive over 137GB's will need to have the consoles BIOS flashed to read anything higher, it will work but you will only be able to use 137GB's on the drive even if your drive supports 500GB's. Regardless flashing your BIOS will take some soldering skill so it's not too easy.

There is a large databases of HDD's that will work in the original xbox. When you find a HDD you would like to buy make sure it will work on your xbox by checking the site I linked you!

If it is softmodded it can run as big as a hard drive as you want to format. Only the very old softmods had limits on them. If you are running SID 5.xx you'll be fine with any size hard drive.

The biggest Xbox HDDs are 2TB. I think that is the absolute max for FATX.

Would the 127GB limit still take place without support for LBA48 if I were to add a G partition? so 127GB F partition, and then a 127GB G partition?

During 2008, the 137GB F drive limit was broken. The biggest drive size is now 1TB. With F and G, that means the biggest drive can be 2TB.

Yes, but in order to bypass that limit don't you need a flashed TSOP? Since the v1.6 consoles don't have a TSOP wouldn't you need a modchip (if you have a v1.6 console)?

New softmods have LBA48.
