Hello All,
Does anyone have any experience installing the Xtender in the ol xbox. I am dusting off my kit and would like to install it in the next few weeks but don't know where to start. Not finding too much definitive info yet on it but I'm still looking.
Thanks guys

shit, i think i still have one of these here in the original retail packaging. I know its not hard to install, since i remember you just gave to install those crappy plastic extender bits of plastic into your xbox and then it has a switch, just connect up like normal as far as im aware and switch between the drives.
If you have a modchip it is the easiest way to setup, just install two hdd's and keep them unlocked, and format and install using AID.. thats what i would do.

Yep or if your like me and hate discs just yank the DVD-Rom out and hook a second HDD up as the D drive. Would be nice to find a decent memory controller though and expand the IDE support from 2 to 4 or 6, or even a way to run almost a ghost drive setup so the second drive just backups and supplies cache and page file space. From what Ive read most of these Xtender products were just cheap knockoffs, Ive seen stuff right on the manufacturers page (lamma.com) that to prevent shutdowns you need to mod the molex adapter or else you wont get proper power. Personaly I think its all bunk (the adapters) you can buy a molex and IDE data splitter at your local computer shop for a few bucks and not have to worry about crimping connectors and sudden power loss etc
