I am working on an xbox for someone that has the error 13. It still boots retail discs.

I can't seem to figure out how to run gamesaves off of a memory card in splinter cell if that is even possible, but since I have no dash to copy them to the drive with, what are my options here?

I don't think you can load game saves off the memory card. I'm pretty sure they have to be copied to the hard drive.

About your only options are either to hotswap the drive or get the hard drive unlocked and get it into a chipped xbox so you can put the dashboard back on it.

Okay well I have two chipped xboxes here, but how can I unlock it since I can't get into it to do anything? I already thought about getting it into a chipped box as the easiest way to fix it, but never having to do it before, I have no idea how to unlock it.

I think I'm on the right track now.

Instead of hotswapping to a pc I just hotswapped to a chipped xbox and it seems to be working, at least, I'm able to access the drive, so maybe I have it now.

You could power the xbox on, let it unlock it, and then get a really long IDE cable so that you could hook the HDD into your chipped xbox. From there it should be just as easy as popping in AID and installing the MS dash.

You cant go long with IDE it has an effective data transmission range of 18 inches after that it bleeds, that was one of the big selling points of SATA compared to IDE, youll have to do it the same as if youre using a PC and loosen the IDE cable on the drive, leave the power hooked up, either force an error 16 or wait for the flubber and quickly unhook the HDD and plug it into the chipped box and boot it. Get the eeprom.bin file, after that you can rebuild the drive with virgin dash files and lock it with the proper eeprom

Im not sure about SID but I know with Ndure even if the exploits have been deleted if you put in the game disc used for the exploit and cold boot it will boot the softmod menu, from there you can remove the mod and return to stock off the HDD backup then remod the XBOX

SID requires the files to be there, so if they are deleted your out of luck.

You could always get the drive hooked up the a PC like you would with a hotswap but then use explorer360 to put the dash files on. I've never done with this myself, but I know Wes has mentioned it to other members at some point.

It does work, and it seems to be easier to recognize the HDD with Xplorer than Xboxhdm, but in my experience it freezes at the worst time, like right after you get the drive cleared then it wont recognize. If going the PC route id do the xboxhdm kingroach route, takes just as long and it comes out modded. No need for eeprom since the xbox will lock it for you when youre done.

Another thing you can try first though is using Xbox Ultimate Boot Disc, cold boot it, if it boots go to restore MSDash and it will redo the c drive, also the eeprom will show up on the screen, you can write it down and use atawap or dos to unlock the drive and rebuild and lock it.
