Sooooo....
I originally softmodded my 1.6 xbox via the Splinter Cell method. Then uploaded a DVD-R of AID 4.52.
I was following the directions of the AIDeluxe site, had reformatted my HDD (in hindsight that was a dumb idea...) had created an MS Backup from AID, had backed up the eeprom and was waiting for the AID menu to load (it was taking a really, really long time) from the red softmod menu it was in when the power went out.
Now when I turn on the xbox (either with tray open, closed, with the AID disk in it, etc. etc. ) all I get is a flashing red and green light and a screen saying "Service required. Call Customer Support."
If there's no way of fixing this I am going to be pissed, and my wife is going to be pissed at me. My xbox has served us well as both a DVD player and for the games over the years.

xboxhdm_v1.9
If it was created with xboxhdm_v1.9

Unfortunately no, I just get the screen to Call Customer Support no matter what I try. Games are useless, let alone accessing the MS dash.
It looks like a hard-drive swap or installing a chip is needed.

I used the SID 5.11 Installer and the Linux_profile via Action Replay and Splinter Cell. I was in the process of following the AIDeluxe directions for installation by letter and was at the 1-click softmod part when the power went out. I am not sure what version was installed as I never got to the part of actually seeing the files, but I do have all files on my AID 4.52 DVD-R disc.
To make matters worse, the ISO and all the files I downloaded that were burned to disc are on my laptop, which was also fried last night after I tripped over our dog while carrying a glass of water - which was thrown all over it.
Call it the worst night ever for my electronics...
Well, I just found a working Xbox on Craigslist, I'll use that and in the meantime use my current one to add a chip and other mods to it.
This is turning into a very unique learning experience... *facepalm*
And no, I'm not trolling.

I have an idea here that may be able to save your xbox!
There is a tutorial in my sig for a hotswap, open it up and read about it. It allows you to copy original files back to your XBOX with a trick taht unlocks the hard drive so you PC can manage the HDD using the xboxhdm.

That's a good tip TheRealHypnotiX, but unfortunately all I have are laptops and I don't know a single person with a modded xbox.
I'm going to start a new topic on what I need to pull together to modchip (and what modchips are the best) and get my 1.6 xbox into a nice running machine. In the meantime I purchased a 1.4 xbox for a basic playing machine while I try to get my 1.6 up and running again.

well, to put a chip in a 1.6 your gonna need to know how to solder, so IF you do not, i would suggest finding something to start learning on like maybe an old CD or tape player, just something electronic that doesnt work so you can get the hang of it.
If you know how to solder or learn how you then have to solder on a PCB Rebuild board for a 1.6 as M$ has made some physical changes to the xbox 1 version 1.6a/b mobos.
Once you do this you may be able to still find a solderless chip so you dont have to solder in the pinheaders and the wires as well. This in my opinion is a waste of money and would go with the solder version if able to as its more reliable in my opinion with you having to solder the parts in knowing they are about 98% less likely to stay in place.
After you mod your box, you should be good, you will just need to flash it with a hacked BIOS and then you can download and burn AID and it will assist you in getting the right dashboard and everything that you need to get things back in motion. It will also make it VERY simple to swap to a better hdd as with a chipped box you can put in a new HDD and just format it with AID and set it up quick and easy.

He could get an X3 with the solderless adapter if they still make those.
What error code are you getting anyways? _________________

Hm, good question.
It was Error Code 14 (missing dashboard) but it has changed to Error code 16 (clock cannot be set) due to being unplugged for a while.
I'll check into the Xecutor 3ce chip if I can find any.

Well like i said, even if you get the solderless adapter for the chip you will have to solder the PCB Rebuild board to the bottom of the mobo. Ill post an image for an example!
Each of the spots on there you see on the edges you have to solder to those points on the motherboard, the reason is like i said, M$ moved some stuff around and those points reconnect all the needed spots so that it will actually work once you install your modchip, solderless or not.
[EDIT] This is only on the 1.6 versions of the xbox, 1.0-1.5 this is not needed!!!!

In all honesty it would be easier to find someone with an older computer with IDE or buy yourself a PCI IDE card. Then you could hotswap the xbox and save yourself all this trouble if you don't want to solder. _________________
