I've noticed there are programs (i.e. Chimp) that allow copying (or ghosting of ) of hard drives, but it seems tedious.
Isn't it as simple as FTP copying files on one HD and then upload the folders and files to the new HD? Does this work or is there an issue regarding the HD unique key that prevents this action?

Well you can do that if you have a chip. I used to do it like that, use AID to format the HDD, then put in an unleashx CD I made to boot to a dashboard, and then FTP all the old files onto the new hardrive.
However, chimp is made for softmodded xboxes. With a softmodded xbox, there is no way to just format an HDD and then boot to a dashboard somehow and FTP the files. So when you upgrade the hard drive on a softmodded xbox it must be formatted, copied, and locked while the xbox is booting from the old hard d rive. _________________

Ahhh, I didn't realize that darth33bagger. Thank you very much for the clarification. Yes, I have (2) Xboxes that are chipped with the X3. One was my original box to tinker and work out the bugs and the other is my final box that is clean and mean!
Since I completing my final Xbox, there is no need to keep it so I am going to sell it, but before I do I am gonna wipe it and reload the same files as the other Xbox.
I am glad it is as simple as I thought and there is no issue regarding unique hard drive keys. If I am wrong, please correct me.
Thanks again. _________________ With knowledge, comes great power.

Well if your going to keep the chip in it, there is no reason to lock the new hard drive. As for the hard drives, the xbox doesn't store the serial number or anything of the original hard drive so that wouldn't affect it either. _________________

Also depending on your xbox version if your even just ok at soldering you could solder the TSOP on the mobo so you can use the TSOP tool to flash the BIOS which is just like having a chip but no chip soldering required. Plus, the TSOP points are EASY, just to points you have to connect on the mobo and they both have the connection points right next to them so its EASY, have done it only twice but bother were successful!!!!
