Let me describe the situation. I have a chipmodded Xbox (I believe version 1.2 or 1.3) with a 200GB HDD. When I press the big eject button it ejects the tray and boots to the MS dash. When I press the small power button it starts the dashboard that is installed on the HDD drive.

Due to my own fault (I feel really stupid) I managed to screw up the current dashboard. I had it set so that EvoX would start up XBMC right away. I wanted to update XBMC but I totally fucked up and it looks like no dashboard is started. Now it only starts to the Xbox logo (orange instead of green) and just hangs there and I cant access the box through FTP .

After some nightly hours spend reading on the internet I deceided that XBMCID is what I needed to fix this situation and get my precious Xbox up and running again.

The first issues I have ran into concerns the iso file. Somehow I cant open it with 7-zip to see what's inside. Why is that, what is up with this ISO file? I can burn the ISO as described in the tutorial but for some reason after burning the disc appears to be empty under Windows and cant be read under Ubuntu. However, by copying the temp directory of ISO Updater I managed to create my own ISO and get it burned but then another problem popped up. [edit: probably due to the fact that these are xiso's ?!?!]

Every where I read I see people saying that I have to put the CD in the tray and then reboot. But when I do this the tray is ejected and the MS Dash is started. When I close the tray the MS dash comes up with a popup saying that my xbox doenst recognize the disc. When I boot using the power button I just boots to the orange Xbox logo again.

I have wasted about 3 DVD-R's and 3 CD-R trying to fix a proper boot disc but I just cant get it to work. I tried the method as described in the tutorial, I tried it by creating my own ISO from the temp dir of ISO Updater but every time the popup appears. Now I'm wondering if it perhaps not related to the disc but the fact that it just does not even tries to boot from the DVD drive and tries to load this faulty dashboard.

I'm totally without ideas and I'm really really really hoping someone here with more knowledge about all this can help me out.

Thanx in advance.

Nevermind, I used a different type of DVD-RW and somehow it worked. Not sure if that was the reason though.

Splended program, XBMCID ... Very Happy

Since you now know your xbox dvd brand just stick to it and 99% of the DVDs you cut should work fine. Wink
