If you can find a matching PSU or mod an old PC PSU then yeah its a simple fix.
You need this to use a PC PSU: http://diy.sickmods.net/Our_Products/ATX_PSU_Converter/About/

It might be the famous cold solder joint on the plug for the PSU as well. When you take the power supply out, flip it over and see if you have any burn marks on the large solder joints where the plug is. Or just wiggle the plug and see if those solder joints move and such just be gentle. If so all you need to do is re-solder those joints and your good to go.

Yeh id have to agree. Sounds like it's been knocked about a bit from vibration maybe?? I had the same problem with the one in my CAR running my entertainment system. It started to cut out too but then it finally popped..

PSU's are simple to replace but are pretty expensive still no doubt.. I used to buy the dual voltage ones though 110/240v..

you'll have no probs changing out a PSU..
