Ok, firstly thanks to everyone who contributes here, this is my first post but I've been reading and trawling for a while though I'm just starting to get my head around it.
I was given a modded xbox about a year ago, I think it's great but I'd like to install some old Nintendo and Sega ROMS I've got on my computer onto it. I have a cross-over ethernet cable, and I know I need an ftp program to transfer them over, but that's about it?
I've searched through the old posts for a tutorial or a walk-through for this but I havent' managed to find anything (I'm a bit hopeless with computers when it comes to things like this).
- Which FTP program is recommended? Is it simply a case of plugging the ethernet cable into my computer and then into my xbox and having the two 'recognise' each other?
- All the ROMS are zipped, will I need to 'un-zip' them?
- What relevance does the dashboard or the method with which the xbox was originally modded have on the problem?
- Once the ROMS are on the xbox, will I simply need to 'click' on each game to run it or do you have to open the emulator first?
If any relevant info is missing please let me know and I'll provide all the information I can. Again, many thanks for your help!
Adam.

You will not need to unzip them just use auto installer deluxe http://www.aidtracker.com/ to install the EMU and then FTP the Roms to the ROM folder of the EMU they go to.
Install the EMUs to the E drive.
Dash wont matter as the EMU will run like a dash and you will be able to pick the game or rom you want to play from there.
Run in to any probs just let us know and enjoy the sites bro.

yeah its really simple.
some basic info.
you should have an emultors folder in your apps folder in your E drive or F drive.
once you ftp your emus and roms depending on what dash you have they should appear in under emulators on your dash.
once you select your emu it will boot up and your good to go.
if you are playing sega and nes roms then more than likely you will be using emus ported by a coder called xport.all his emus have the same options and controls for selecting and exiting games.
to exit a game and get back to the emu rom select screen just click down on the right thumbstick and it will bring up a menu to let you exit the game.
basic stuff i know but it will help if you havent used emus on xbox before.

Wow, you guys are helpful! (friendly too, I half-expected an angry 'read the damn FAQ' or something similar). I'll try it at the weekend and report back if I have any problems.
Thanks again!

yep, ftp sounds like the easiest way for you to copy of roms.. Well thats unless you want to learn how to make a ROMPACK set for AIDELUXE..
Once you learn a little more im sure you will make a rompak addon for AID.. Its the easiest way for future installs too.. Just setup using ftp to start since you don't like pc's much.

Greetings, this is obviously my first post.
I decided today to softmod my xbox and everything went off without a problem. I've got the softmod installed and I'm using unleashx as my dashboard.
Now, I was able to configure my skins with no trouble, but I cannot figure out for the life of me how to get my emulators to load.
I followed the guide you linked above and used the flashfxp program to ftp to my xbox. I was able to transfer my emulators and roms to my xbox with no problem.
However, when I access the emulators option on the dashboard it shows as (Empty).
Any ideas?

Did you make a Emulator folder in the root E or F drive to install the emu to?

Yes.
I made a folder in the E: drive named Emulators
Moved what I wanted to the folder, yet they still don't show up. - now the thought, recently occurred to me that I may need xbox specific emus. For instance I just copied the ones I have for my PC over to the xbox. PJ64 and Snes. -- Do I need a certain version of either emu? (I.E PJ64X or Snesbox)

Yeah man the xbox runs on linux so the PC emu wont work.
For the best fix download AID from here: http://www.aidtracker.com/ and burn the ISO that comes with it to a DVD -r and use it to install the EMUs.
You will love the AID disk man, its a one stop shop.

Alright, so it's been about a week with the softmod, and everything is working just fine.
However, when I load zsnesbox through emulators, is there a way to make the default directory my E:Emulators folder? Whenever I boot my emulators I have to scroll through directories to find my roms.
It's not a major problem, just extremely irritating.

You could go into into the emu and go down to config or options(whichever it is, i havn't been on my xbox in a month) go to "change default directory", select the one that says "ROM directory"Then go to where you keep your roms and press start.Make sure the directory doesn't start with D:.Tell me if it works.

Your method did not work... however I was able to figure it out.
I didn't have my roms in the actual emulator folder.
For example - E:\Emulators\(all of my roms here)
instead of - E:\Emulators\ZsnexBox\roms\(all of my roms here)
I used file explorer and one quick selection of 'move files to X' fixed it. - I appreciate your response though.
