Dear Members and Guests,
There's been talk about the new auto-installer that I've been creating for a while now, so I'd like to say that it has now been tested to a large degree and will be out in hopefully a couple of weeks or so.
The name of it will be AUTO-INSTALLER DELUXE, you'll see after reading the features how suitable it is calling it a "deluxe", hehehe. After talks with forahobby we decided to get rid of the Xbox-Hq part in the name, hence why we have a whole new title for it.
Here's a list of what the package includes:
BIOS
Comes in 256k, 512k, and 1mb flavours (except for X3 which is only 1mb, and the M$ BIOSes which are set sizes).
Install the non-MS dashboards to either C E, F, or G.
The config files have been set up to search these setups:
E Drive - E+F Drive - E+F+G Drive
M$ Dash 5960 Rev. 185EAD00
AvaLaunch 0.49.2
EvolutionX 1.8.3921
EvolutionX 1.8.3935
Media X Menu 0.9n6
UnleashX v0.37.1207A Build 536
Xbox Media Center 2004-11-30
Applications
Install to E, F, or G either as a package or individually.
* File Manager built into the installer
* Boot either MS, C, E, F, or G Dashboard directly from the installer.
* Format Drive (now includes formatting cache drives as an option)
* Prepare Drives (each drive is done separately now, and includes DVD-X as part of the preparation).
* Flash BIOS / (Un)Lock Hard Drive via Evox setup on the Installer CD.
Now you know why I called it deluxe, it basically has everything I've done in previous installers, plus some new extras.
The dashboard I used for running the auto-installer is UnleashX. I was attempting to use Media X Menu for this, but I found MXM very difficult to use, not so much in the scripting, but how MXM doesn't perform certain things properly.
There are beta testers currently checking the installer out, but it's pretty safe to say that it's flawless. I've personally checked the dashboards on C Drive including MS (don't have a FC BIOS unfortunately), plus checked the apps and emulators. The scripts are a lot of copy/paste where I've just changed drive letters, so it should be fine for all situations. Plus where I've had to change config files relating to certain drives, I install a pre-configured file with the program which sets up the program the way it should be.
I'll include the changelog in the next post following this if anyone wishes to see the progress.
Hopefully we can all be blessed with this new auto-installer very soon. I love it already, hehehe..

Added some Icons / Screenshots for the Main Menu of the Installer, might add a few more later on if I can somehow organise someone to capture them for me.
Added more skins for Avalaunch, UnleashX, and Media X Menu.
New method for Region-Free patching the Original Xbox DVD Player. Instead of applying the patch via a program, it just overwrites the xboxdash.xbe file with the patched one. There is ofcuorse a clean and fixed version to choose. PLEASE NOTE: You CAN NOT use Xbox Live after this patch. These options can be accessed in the Tools menu. Also, the patched XBE file is for the Microsoft Dash version 5969, the same one included in this installer.
Changed the default location of Emulators from X:\Apps\Emulators to X:\Emulators (X Standing for the drive letter you install it to). This is so when the dashboards do auto-sorting it doesn't include Emulators in the Games.
Updated X3 1943 Gold BIOS to X3 1957 BIOS.
2004-10-25 - Version 1.0 Beta 4

Second beta released for testing, only config files released though (no newer Apps).
Updated X3 1916 BIOS to X3 1943 Gold BIOS.
Fixed Dashboards so they call all execute the Microsoft Dashboard via a link. Dashboards not having this feature were Avalaunch, Media X Menu, and Xbox Media Center (to access the MS Dash in Xbox Media Center go to My Programs).

Added Gueux DVD-X v1. This will be installed as the default DVD player instead of the standard DVD-X. You can always overwrite the Gueux version with the older version by installing the original DVDX
separately after installing all the apps.
Added options in the AI menu to boot the MS Dashboard, and Hacked Dashboards on C and F.

2004-10-20 - Version 1.0 Beta 2
First beta released for testing. There was upload problems with the first beta, and since then I have made some changes (even though nobody knows any different ofcourse, hehehe).
Zipped contents on the ISO to reduce image size, was 544 MB now 315 MB. This seemed to slow down the installation process, so unless the installer goes over 700 MB when completed I will discard this to make it quicker on the installation side of things.
Removed BIOS binaries from the beta to reduce space. They are taken from my BIOS-CD pack and come in 256k, 512k, and 1mb sizes. The Menu selection for flashing is available, but I am still to design a skin for this, plus include the bios files in the ISO.
Removed Stream Pack from XBMC due to very long installation times, both zipped and unzipped. There has also been reports that some of these streams are faulty, and since I don't really have the time to check them all I've just discarded them. I apologise to everyone that was hoping for this inclusion, but I have to be practical about this.
2004-10-19 - Version 1.0 Beta 1

First build of the Auto-Installer using UnleashX as the frontend. More progress made with this in one day than what it took weeks to try and figure out with Media X Menu.
Never released for testing. This was due to upload problems at the time, and since I did some more work to it while trying to upload; I decided not to bother with this version.
During the beta stage, this will not been made public. I have hand-selected a few worthy beta testers to help me get rid of bugs, problems etc. before I make a public release.

Now that the cat is out of the bag, so to speak...I will go ahead and put my two cents in on this. What a FUCKING installer!! I know that I just have the beta tester to check for bugs and such, but this AI is the best I have seen....EVER!
All I can say is, wow, wow, and wow...oh yeah....wow.
The menu is laid out SO much better. Very professional DJB! Very sweet! I haven't got to use it on the G install yet, but I will as soon as my customer's HD comes in...(Wednesday most likely)
Please let me know if you run into any bugs prior as I am going to use it on a customers machine. Man is this thing strong! I have a feeling that this will be a WORLDWIDE hit! Slayers.....who the f#&@ is Slayers!!

There has quite a few updates / modifications since beta 2, including some fixes to the config files. So, what I've done is uploaded a small 200kb (on my own webspace), and I'll send you a link via PM on where to obtain it. Hopefully this small update should bring it up-to-date as possibly without having to download a whole new ISO.
I just gave beta 5 to forahobby for testing, and from the testing I've done also it seems flawless.
We are just waiting on one final piece of the AI puzzle, which is kept a surprise until release. So hopefully in a week or two max it should be officially released.
Not long to go now...

I personally havent found a thing wrong with it.. Ive blown away a mates xbox which had nothing but the oldest stuff. It did a full format and reinstalled everything on his 80gb.. So in other words shes ready..
The final piece of the puzzle.. Gee im sure that involves me somewhat... No wonder ive been quiet..
