A week ago i purchased a softmodded xbox with a 200gig hd. Everything worked fine until i decided I wanted to update the system with with the newest xbox auto installer deluxe that jsut came out last month. I loaded up the DVD i made and pretty much installed everyhting on there. I wanted to update my dashboard so i clicked the install dashboard soft mod and chose evox, it asked me something along the line of installing it on a stanadrd hd, a large hd or larger hd i chose the larger option which showed 3 diffrent drives E,F and G i think. Anyways when it was done I tried loading it up but the thing keeps reseting itself and not going into the Dash. I figured i must of screwed somethign up so I boot the disc back in and decided to reformat everything using autoinstaller, when it was done I chose to create that MS file from aid then clicked on "one-click-softmod install" and chose evox as my dashboard. after 5mins of installing everything, trainers/scripts/ect it asks to to shutdown to complete the install. I do but I still get the same thing. The xbox just trys to load, i hear the HD working but it just resets itself over and over until i turn it off or hurry and toss in the auto installer dvd again. Can anyone help me out? Did I screw myself and now need to have it mod chipped? I'm such a noob, it's been like 8 years since ive been away from the modding scene, from the ps1 days.

Found what was wrong. Someone mentioned that apparently if you add trainers to the evox install something in there corrupts the dash. So i went in and deleted the trainers. Fixed!!! It boots up fine. Granted though everything I had on there was deleted....lost about 60 xbox games with my hasty reformating i did =(
Another thing i did hasty was order an xecuter 3 ce modchip with soderless apdaptor for just about $75 in hopes of fixing the problem....Should i try and cancel this order? or should i just go ahead and upgrade to a chip?

If you can solder I also suggest the soldered method. A lot less hassle down the line. _________________

What kind of hastle would i be looking at if i went soderless? I havent messed around with soddering in such a long time i figure it be safer to go with the adapter. Do chips with solderless adaptors tend to usally come undone often or just fail overtime?

Solderless adapters can be jarred lose pretty easily so you might have to open your xbox up a lot to fix it. With my hyperx chip on my V1.6 xbox I have to reseat the chip all the time because it comes loose. I've had my X3 CE soldered into my V1.0 for 2 years now and have never had a single problem. _________________
