I bought a used xbox and i noticed something different.Theres a small cable coming out of the top, down the side and goes just under the first controller port. When turned on it has XBMC so im sure it has a mod.My question is how do i find out if it is soft or chipped?I didnt see a chip inside under the dvd drive but the cable has me confused.I would love any kind of comment accept how stupid i am.

It sounds like a bank selector wire for a X2/X3 mod chip.

Hey,

You could use a program called Enigmah pal/ntsc to switch between the regions etc. It can be found on the AID disc if you need it, available from here:
http://www.aidtracker.com/

If there doesn't appear to be a chip inside the box its likely that it has been softmodded. Did you see where the other end of that wire ended up inside the box?

FC

There is a small pluggin that looks like it goes to the lights on the xbox.I did notice when it goes to xbmc the light on the xbox turns a pale yellow. The light im talking about is the light around the eject button.

Is everything hooked up to the front of the mobo? It might be an eject wire or power button wire.
