Hi Everyone-
First time poster here. Thanks in advance for your help.
I have a softmodded xbox that was in need of a clean install, so I used the AID4.4 disc. Initially I added a few addon packs like the dummy file and skins. I used the one-click install option with virtual c using the UnleashX dashboard. Completed the required backup to the E: drive, formatted the drive, installed the package, and was given the message to reboot the xbox with no disc in the drive.
Now after rebooting the system it hangs on the xbox splash screen (black screen with old green xbox logo) and will not boot to a dash. It runs retail discs, but I am unable to get it to load an AID disc or any other burned media.
It seems to me that the dashboard isn't being found on boot and so it hangs on the splash screen. The fact that it plays retail games shows that the device hasn't malfuntioned. Is there any way to FTP into a box that hasn't loaded a dashboard and try to manually point to the correct .xbe file?
I'm not sure if my hunch is correct here. I'm happy to reinstall the whole thing if that's what it takes, but ideally I'd like to avoid having to open the case. Any recommendations in a situation like this?

Okay, thanks. I believe I have the eeprom backed up on my PC. I'll give that a shot.

If your box has been softmodded previously, it's likely the game save exploits are still on the HDD. If you have a copy of whatever game was used to softmod it (Splinter Cell, Mechassault, 007: AUF) then you could boot that game, load the exploit and simply reinstall the dashboard.
+1, there is absolutely no need to rebuild the HDD unless you dont have the softmod saves on your HDD which you should .
