What version Xbox do you have?
The easiest way to upgrade the drive would be to use a program called Chimp. There is a tutorial on this program under my sig. If you need any help with it, just shout.
You could also use XboxHDM, but its only worth doing if your Xbox is a v1.6.

if you got a chip or tsop flash you can use AID. Remember to unlock the current HDD first using AID so you can use it in another xbox or a pc.

I also like to use the above methods, you can use Chimp via telnet for v1.6 but it is hard to read. Using xboxHDM requires you to install the xbox HDD on your PC IDE cables and the boot cd with the proper files.
Oh... FYI, if you are going to use a HDD over 230gb you will need to use xbpartitioner to format the lage drives into 32K clusters or you will start to loose your data and the HD will become unstable and overheat as you get to about 230 gb used. Trust me, I know! LOL I installed a 500gb HDD in my xbox and put it all on the F drive so I have one giant drive, you can split it if you want using the same program.
