Got a messed up harddrive in my Xbox after trying to install XBMC dash and no I canīt boot anything off my harddrive. Downloaded Auto-Installer 4.3 and burned it on a DVD-R as an .iso all alone, but my Xbox wonīt boot the DVD, any idea?
Might add that my Xbox is hardmod and I used Toast (on Mac) to burn the .iso.

Its hard to believe a chipped XBOX wont read a disc.
Where is your back up?
You did dump one on the PC right?
What DVD drive and what media are you using for the disc?
Try Sony media if you havent yet. It works 100% on all drives.
Unless of course the media you used has been used on this XBOX before.

Use Qwix 101 to make the files in to an ISO, it must be an xiso for the xbox to read it.

That's the format the iso has to be in for the xbox to be able to read the disc. As far as what program you use to burn it doesn't really matter. _________________

Dont have a backup . . . think I got a Xecuter 2 chip or something. Burned it on Verbatim It goes straight from BIOS loading to Xbox Xecuter screen and there it stands, and from the noise my harddrive then is making, I guess its trying to boot form it.
EDIT: I now got the Xbox to boot the orignal BIOS and interface. Then it says it canīt read the DVD media. When I try from BIOS to get it to read the DVD, it doesnt even seem like its giving it a shot. No sound or nothing. My drive is Samsungs.

Try using a different brand of DVD-R, or try with +R.
Some Xbox drives are fussy about which media they read _________________

Could be.
Try Sony on the lowest speed.
dartht33bagger: You know this whole how many years I have been fooling around with back ups I never heard of that.
I always just make the iso and burn it with Nero.
Always learning something! [/b]

Cant get it to work. Now tried a DVD-R from Fujifilm and when it boots up to the Xecuter 2 screen my harddrive doesnt try to find anything, but either is it popping up anything from the disc.
Hmm. . . I got Smartxx BIOS, is there anything I need to do with the BIOS setting? Buttons to push? : )

Should have stated that hmmm. maybe it would have made more sense..hmmm
I say either you turned off the DVD drive if your bios supports it or you have a bad drive.
Its not a media issue nor a issue with the installer.
I used that brand of DVD-R on every drive. It is compatible with all of them.
Actually I use only Sony media for everything, music, DVD's, back up's and it works in everything I have tried it in so far.
Hello,
Never used a mac, but are you burning the ISO as an image ? not just copying the data to a DVD ?
Try using the mac`s Disk utility to burn it, rather than `toast`. _________________

jwerner2, please try not to be so rude, we are a site for friends and help no matter the expierience a user has.
Also, maybe yuo shoudl check your BIOS on the chip. Since ive never used an X2, maybe someone else can come up with an idea for you on that.
Maybe you could try holding the power button for 5 seconds when you turn it on and see what happens, or even hold the white button on your controller, as i said im kind of blind on the X2, if it were an X3 id say do this and that and would be sure to have you up and runnign again.
