My hard drive stopped working and I have no back up.
Years back I paid someone to chip my Xbox and put an 80GB Hard Drive. When I use to press the power button once, it use to boot up as normal Xbox and when I use to press and hold the power button for 2-3 seconds, it use to boot up, what I assume is called X-Disk (orange Xbox logo).
X-Disk use to look fantastic and had many fanciful applications, including XBMC and old school emulators.
Hard drive was making noise for awhile and I was foolish enough not to make any backup.
Now hard drive is busted. When I press the power button, green logo appears, then message about calling customer service and if I press and hold the power button for 2-3 seconds, orange logo appears then same message and Xbox power button light flashes.
Is there any step by step how I can install new hard drive with X-Disk?

Download a copy of AID here: http://www.aidtracker.com/

Hook up a new blank HDD and pop in the aid disk, boot it up and use the chipped 1 click install option and you should be good to go. Very Happy

Thank you for your reply. As per your instruction I downloaded “Auto-Installer.Deluxe.v4.30” and followed instructions from http://www.se7ensins.com/forums/xbox-softmod/31328-use-auto-installer-deluxe.html and burned the ISO on DVD+RW
When I turned the XboX on (with Auto-Installer.Deluxe.v4.30 DVD in the DVD Drive), it shows error code 09.
I’ve tried changing to Master, Slave and Cable Select, still no luck.
Is there specific type of format HDD has to be, for the XboX to be able read it?

Error 09 is an odd one that has to do with there not being room for the debug to run, can you list the make and model of that HDD and to help you along you can go here: http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/modules.php?name=Xbox_HardDrives for a list of compatible HDD's.
