When I try to use the SMB feature I keep getting told that Samba doesn't support SML or maybe its AML. Heck now I feel stupid for not remembering and bringing it to work to ask.
Anyways I can rip to the Xbox drive and then FTP, but it would be so much easier if I could use the SMB feature because my drive is factory and I'm waiting for my larger drive to arrive, but figured I could start pulling games off while I wait.
However I think the problem might lie with the fact that Im actually using BSD to act as a server and I think the problem is ACL might not be enabled on that machine. Never needed it and I have it disabled in DVD2Xbox.
I think what I'll try and do is enable a share on my Windows machine and see if I can copy over to it. Its just a pain in the butt to copy to the Xbox and then FTP. I'd rather just click, rip and come back to a finished product. I suppose I could be patient and wait for my larger drive, but its more fun to do things hard.

Did you get your SMB to work in XBMC?

Yeah it works great on my BSD machine. Im streaming videos, looking at pictures, but I was stumped when I was not able to run DVD2Xbox and send files to it. I've always had a BSD server because I just throw everything on it and acces it from my laptop, desktop and now my Xbox. Just figured I'd temp store my games until the new drive finds its way to my house.
I made sure the Workgroup was the same. I made sure the IP was correct. I made sure the directory that Im dumping the games into exisited. I made sure the login/password is correct. Maybe I'll have to triple check the path to make sure its correct. I'm pretty sure it is, but who knows at this point any more.
When I run it this is the message I get. Copied from the previously mentioned forum thread.
0 Files copied ACL file processing not suported with SMB

Might not have wright permissions to PC from xbox.
You would need to check your fire wall settings on your PC for that.

It should since Im using the same login/password as my SMB account on that machine. BSD machine that is. My laptop and desktop don't have any issues, but anymore I wouldn't be surprised.
I'll try something on my Windows machine and see if it makes a difference. Im guessing its the same. Just setup a share on the windows machine right? Meaning enable file sharing.

Some times the PC will only give read access to the xbox or from the xbox, like in the firewall settings.

Not sure why, but there is a ACL issue with BSD and I'm guessing Linux would be the same. Even thou ACL is disabled.
I created a windows share and it had no issues. Slow via wireless, but I'm guessing via Cat5 it would a lot better. Wife kicked me off the TV so I'll have to test it out later.

Yeah thats the same one I posted up above. No biggie I have the windows version running just fine. I could of course just stop and burn to my new drive when it comes, but thats no fun. I want my fix now. This Xbox thing is becoming way to addictive and Keep looking for things to tinker on.

Qwix has the option to rip a disk from the xbox disk drive to your PC, might want to give it a go.

DVD2Xbox seems to work, but I really like the idea that Qwix creates .iso files so when you transfer them back you know they are whole.
My intent wasn't by any means to make copies and pass them around Im just ripping what I have so I have it out of the way so I can power dump them back onto the new Drive when it arrives. Man I have games I totally forgot I had. Its like Christmas all over again.

You can drag over just the files with Qwix too.
