Hi there I have got 2 xboxs one is brand new from a shop.
1x black console
1x Limited edtion clear console
Both are v1.6 xboxs
I have got a 500gb hard drive and modchip and wanting to use the clear case and put the chip in and HDD in.
Should i use the mobo and power supply out of the brand new black xbox and put it into the clear or use the mobo and PSU thats in the clear its about a year old?
Also what DVD drives best.
1x Samsungs
1x Thompsons
Both have Seagate 10gb hdd's selling one as i have a WD 500gb.
I have the DUOx2 chip and the latest AID disc with updates.

How the different brands of Xbox DVD drives compare
Thomson
When the Xbox first became available it came with a Thomson DVD drive. Unfortunately, these drives are notorious for being unable to read most CDR media, and are generally regarded as the worst drives in terms of the variety of media that they can read.
Philips
Philips DVD drives started appearing in Xboxs in mid 2002. The consensus seems to be that these drives can read more disc formats than the Thomson drives but not as many as the Samsung.
Samsung
This drive is widely regarded as being the drive that reads the greatest variety of media. It can be identified by two circular wholes in the DVD tray. Used in Xbox consoles manufactured since September 2002.
What disc format should I use? When in doubt, use CDRW

I always found DVD-r to run the best in most drives.

Yeh i used to use DVD+r and cdr cdrw never had any problems. just burn 4x speed or slower and never had a disc not work.
black xbox is a 2005-08-11
clear xbox is a 2004-08-08
I have had a limited edtion v1.6 before.

I have a Halo Edition that I keep stock just because when I go mod, I go all the way. I don't want to mess up a good thing. That being said, I would keep the Crystal stock, being worth more than plain black ones. In your case, the black one is also the newest and you don't have to switch anything out. Think about it. To switch it all out, you're taking a risk of stripping screws and not to mention taking all the stickers and rubber pads off is a pain. _________________

Man I'd just mod the crystal xbox and put the samsung in it. Samsung drives are waaaaaaay better than thompson drives. _________________
