ok i have a soft modded xbox with a 80 gig hard drive. Linked to a router netgear pre n wireless router by crossover cable. Pc running windows XP. XMBC feb 08 version T3CH build.
Why doesn,t my router show the xbox as been connected? I can gsin access to it from the pc by adding it as network place. the xbox allows me to see the scrolling xbox.hq banner and the weather works. When it comes to adding share files i.e video or anything it just says computer name not available or something. Is it a problem with network settings on the xbox. the router or pc

if you get the RSS feed then your connected to the router fine. I would setup a fixed ip in the router to your xbox mac address. then if your trying to connect your xbox to your pc to stream media. first make sure any firewall you have running has the ip address of the xbox allowed to pass. then setup your shair folders/drives etc. if you still cant auto detect it in the xbox you will need to input the computer name in add network location. ie "//Computername/folder".
