Hi there, first post on the forums. I completed a softmod of my xbox yesterday via the mechassault sid5 installer. Took my quite a while and lots of reading to do it right. After I installed the evox dash I went ahead and installed XBMC via AID 4.1. Again took me a couple tries and ended up having to redo the installation a couple of times but eventlually I successfully installed XBMC on E and had the stock ms dash on a virtual C with the sid.
Anyway, I decided to go about and do a clean install of 4.2 when after a bit more research I saw it came out. I reformatted the hd, used a virtual C to install MS dash via the AID and put XBMC on E along with everything else. Now the problem- After I resarted the xbox the LED stays green and it goes to MSDash. I attempt to boot via the AID DVd and it is unreadable (which makes sense due the green LED) I attempted opening the softmod via Mechassault again and now after opening the game "Run Linux" the LED turns orange, as it should, but the game just restarts. LED stays orange until I eject the disk. I have attempted reinstalling the SID, and am sure it is uncorrupted.
Any ideas of how to get out of MSDash and either back into SID/AID. or one of the hacked dashes on E?
I am also running MS Dash 5960 so you know. Much thanks, going to keep troubleshooting here.
Ive just overcome this problem myself but its not a simple fix.
You will need to read up on xboxHDM tools.
when you reinstalled the msdash for a clean install. somthing either goes wrong in the copy process or format. The drive has files left over that cause problems. i think its network related as if you go into your xbox natwork settings you will find your xbox crash/restart.
i found on soft mod i had to format all drives with the aid disc , then install the msdash before shutting down.
If you have a backup of your hdd lock code or eeprom on your pc it will save some bother.
Download xboxhdm_v1.9 and follow its readme. or find the tut in the tutorial section.
effectivly you will need to connect your xbox hdd to a pc and rebuild it with a linux boot disc. (made by xboxhdm) . _________________ Xbox V1.3

Thanks. I'm going to give that a try in a bit when i get it all downloaded. Also going to try using a different Mechassault linux loader as well as I was having problems with my flash drive last night (windows refused to recognize it, ended up restoring it back to fat32 and just finished reformatting it to fatx) Thanks for the reply. If anyone else has any input let me know, it is well appreciated.

Yeah, a bit lucky that it worked. I was without a USB flash drive so I ended up formatting my Ipod mini to fatx and had some problems along the way. Eventually got it to work and was able to load it all on up again.
