After a buddy saw how I had modded a couple of my xbox'x, he decided he wanted to do the same to his...So being a good DIYr, he ordred everything he needed and then proceeded to come over and ask my to do it for him
So I was going about the install and got the lcd/control panel he ordered installed, and then went onto the xapt3r...thats where my question starts.
I got everything in what I think is the correct spot on the board, power it up and only get 4 lights - the Blue and the 3 adjacent to it. So I started checking the connections on the leads to the board, and I still couldnt get the end status light to come on. Then, I tried something else and it suddenly came on! The problem is, I had taken it out of the correct hole and didn't put it back in anywhere, and it migrated to a resting poing on top of a different hole/cotact point. While on this incorrect location on the circuit board though I did achieve getting all 5 lights to come on. I'm going to guess that the lights just show contact with the board for each lead, and not necessarily the correct contact point? That being said, what would be a possible reason for the Xapt3r to not function correctly when that lead in question is in the correct hole?
I'm not sure if how I described the problem makes sense or not, but if somebody needs clarification to assist me, please let me know!
On a side note, he said he tried to do it himself first without the adapter and that we wasn't as good at soldering small things as he is larger items that he deals with at work so removed everything and cleaned up the few spots he had started soldering (just the pins for the header). I checked that before I even tried the install, and it looked good I though?
If anybody has some ideas/suggestions I would be very appreciative!
Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

Where it migrated to is usually where it goes in my experience.

What version is the xbox?
Ive found that with solderless chips/adapters that it is a good idea to hot glue the D0 wire onto the board so it doesn't come out. _________________

This is why i try to stick with soldering since the solderless adapters seem to move on you alot.

Ya, and its so bad i have a lego hot glued to it because unless the lego is there it doesn't boot up (the dvd drive presses the lego down which holds the chip down). _________________
