I recently got the version of this emu off of the AID v4.1 disc. I have successfully installed all of the roms, but they are very slow and some won't work at all. Wes sent me a link for a set of four 64mb processor chips that he said is what I need. I don't have enough soldering experience to solder hundreds of small points. So I'm looking for another way of getting the roms to run smoothly without locking up and going to black screen.

After selecting the rom I want to lay I have to select 1964, PJ64, or UltraHLE and then I have three options of filters, Rice 5.1, Rice 5.31, and Rice 5.60. I'm not sure why I have three of these options.

Has anyone figured out the best way or a different way to get these roms to run smoother without the four chips and all of the soldering. Please help.

The options are slim man and for the most part 1964 seems to work best for me and i use what ever the star is over on anything im unsure of.

Keep in mind that the N64 is by far the most unstable of all the emus.

I was more so hoping that somebody has run across maybe a solderless kit for what you showed me. I talked to my father and he told me the same thing as you. He knows a lot about computers, but not when it comes to the gaming systems. I figured I would make a post in the emulator forum and maybe somebody would have a fix.

Yeah man there just aint a lot you can do but tweak each game and find the settings that work the best for it.
As for a solderless set for those chips i woldent hold on for that to happen, even if you get them in there thay still run a little odd.

The article about the chips you sent to me says that it wont improve gameplay at all anyways.

If your interested in adding an additional 64 megs of memory to your Xbox then here is the set of chips you will need. Although you wont see an increase in game performance you WILL see a huge differance in Linux and applications. With the additional RAM you can expect faster boot times, less hard drive thrashing, running numerous applications at one time and the ability to load larger ROM files through various emulators.

Thay mean you wont see better game play for xbox games but the last thing in there has (the ability to load larger ROM files through various emulators.) that wold be the N64, it has the biggest roms around next to the pcsx.

Gotcha. Why don't you think they have a solderless out there? Seems to be the new thing. I hate that nobody else replies.

1 it a lot of work with all that soldering.
2 lot of risk trying to solder it.
3 the things it will do to help are limitted.
4 there is no solderless for it. (kind of hard to make one when the points are so small.
5 Not a lot of folks really know its an option.

I can name a few more but you get whare im going.
I wold love to try it out but i dont want to buy the chips and flush my cash.

n64 roms are hit or miss the mem upgrade might help some but i dont think it would be worth it as wes said cause each chip is a 100 pins to solider in and you have 4 of them do deal with i dont think it would be worth doing unless you wanna run linux and run a linux emu of n64 linux will take full advantage of all the ram..........plus i dont know where to get a linux 64 emu but iam sure someone has ported one for it

I'm looking for simple fix. I wont kill me to playa a slow game, but some of them skip worse than old cds. It would just kill the gameplay for zelda games and racing games that you need to have some sort of pace in. So no other options, but to try every game out inidividually huh? That really sucks. I can't believe that there hasn't been some sort of advancement for this emu. I'm not experienced enough for all that soldering.

Actually it helps quite a bit but the xbe's for the emu all have to be patched for it to take full use of the RAM upgrade. If you check on eurasia.nu Dkoots I believe they have a version of surreal that uses virtual mem which would help with the speed/crashing issue. If you cant find it on there let me know and I'll check a couple places for ya and see if I cant find it.
