ive heard the zunes are not good beacause the only way to get music to the MP3 is to buy the music from zune but also can it hold avi format if zune can hold avi and transfers music you already have on your PC then i am gonna buy a zune

I use a ipod shuffle at work and that thing is amazing! Holds all the songs that I like and much better then listening to the radio. ipod are really durable too. You have to really mess them up for them to not play again. I gotta say I am alot more impressed with ipods then I am with zune. Just my two cents. I don't know about the movie stuff but as far as quality goes definetly ipod. Very Happy

Personally, I think Apple has a great product with the iPod. I don't own one personally but my old lady does. She loves hers. I've fooled with it a little bit and I like it too. iPods are very durable and I haven't heard of anyone having theirs broken or anything. Don't know much about the Zune but from what I read on their site (http://www.zune.net/en-us/support/howto/start/connectcomputer.htm) it just says (media library) so I'm not too sure if thats thier software only or if that would be like your media library like on Windows Media Player. I think it would work tho.

I have a Zune and I love the thing. I will never go back to the iPod because I highly prefer the Guest mode of the Zune, and I feel the synchronization piece of the Zune software is above Apple's. Both devices have their pros and cons though. I didn't know you could actually load AVI on the device itself, the only thing I have found is a registry hack that allows you to add any type of video files to the Zune Library on the local machine, and then when you sync it, it converts it to the proper format for the Zune. The only real hacks for the Zune I have found are the Video registry hack, using the free space as a storage drive, and the ways of getting around the DRM when you share music Zune to Zune.

I was getting ready to say, the Multi-Extension was the only way I knew of doing anything of that nature. I wasn't gonna say you were wrong though, because I may not have seen any new developments. The converting takes about, in my experience, about 5 minutes for a 3 minute video. In the defense of the Zune though, that could very well be the fault of my run of the PC. No real tweaks or anything to it.

I have moved that up to high priority, but another thing that hurts it is that currently I'm hosting my web page off of this machine, doing my graphic design work, and lord knows what else. It's my fault the conversion is that slow, I will admit that. I know if I leave it convert overnight its done in the morning and thats all that matters.

That's the way I used to be with my Zune, until my HP Server literally went up in flames about 1 month ago. It's kinda cool seeing a fireball shoot out the back of a server. Not something you see everyday.
