I have rebuilt a HD because my original crashed. It wouls let me unlock the HD, so I got another one and used xbox hdm 1.9 to build one and locked it. Now my xbox has an error code #6. This is really destroying my game time. Please help.

6 - kernel - Cannot unlock HDD
This means that when you locked the new HD you got for the xbox you did not use the xbox's EEPROM which is a unique code for locking and unlocking HD. Most likely you locked the HD with the CPU's motherboard, therefore you cannot use it with the xbox. The only fix is to fix your old Xbox hard drive (like you tried) or get the EEPROM of the xbox _________________ .---------------.

Oh,well I guess I did then. I can't redo it because I can't unlock it now.

since you dont have your eeprom, your best bet would probobly to get a modchip. _________________

One problem is his HDD is locked to his comp, and his comp can't unlock it. So he has to get a new bigger HDD even if he gets a mod chip. He will need a mod chip no matter what though because he doesn't have EEPROM. _________________

I don't think he has any locked drives if im right. I don't think he has his eeprom either. So even if he hotswaps it, it will only add the dash. He wont be able to lock the HDD. _________________

I will try and unlock the drive using a program I got called HD unlock. If that doesn't work, I'm screwed. Can't return the hard drive. Don't have the cash at this time to buy a new one.

HD unlock should work, i think thats the program you have to pay for but it will unlock a hard drive without the eeprom if im correct? _________________

Ok the program unlocked the drive. I re formatted it and it still has the same error code. Now, I'm going to try to remake the hdm1.9 disk to see if I made an error. Does anyone have a back up of their xbox C drive. If so I could use it. I need the MS Dash. If not I'll just mod it again. Thanks for all the help guys!
