Hi guys! newbie here, I just recently bought an xbox from ebay and I can say that I am happy with it. I just have one question with you guys, when I boot-up the xbox that I bought from ebay the splash screen has a logo of XBox (the big green X in the middle of the screen) and there's a text underneath says "xecuter 2" I asked the previous owner if he installed a modchip and just disabled it. But he said no. I haven't looked at the motherboard yet to see if there is a modchip installed. But I'm guessing that there is.... am I right? Can you guys please verify, if there is a modchip installed what the next step for me....? can I just install the dashboard directly? Any suggestion or help will be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Chip/TSOPed, or somehow, he got an excellent softmod. Either way, I'd try installing a burned DVD of AID or something xbox related that isn't retail. Otherwise, just take it apart and find out. Easiest way to tell for a chip or something is if the stickers under the xbox are damaged at all because 2 of the screws you need to open an xbox are under stickers. The other 4 are under the pads it rests on. If theres no damage and the DVD doesn't burn, it's a hell of a softmod.

He probobly said that its not modded because, from what I understand, selling modded xboxes is a big nono on ebay. _________________

As far as I know, eBay don't mind modded boxes being sold as long as:
1. Its clearly sold as a MODDED Xbox.
2. There are no games, movies, music or anything like that on there.
That box has, at some point, seen a mod. So you can either carry on happily, or if the blurb accompanying the Xbox sale stated it was NOT MODDED, you could probably get your money back for misleading advert. If you wanted to that is.
Open it up and have a look, thats what I'd do. After that, take it from there.

seems like all the xboxes on ebay all clearly staae "isnt and never has been modded". I also havent ever seen a modded box for sale there so i just assumed. But, you know what they say when you assume things... _________________

ebay have a zero tolerance to mods. If your ad includes any key words such as modchip, mod, chip, etc they remove your ad and send you a nice little message saying next time they'll close your account

That is the best way if you dont feel like taking it apart. But if they are damaged, and you would like to know what chip it is, then you take it apart, as for telling you what kind of chip it is, just upload a pic on here when you get that far. _________________ Hotswap Tutorial|FTP Tutorial|HyperX Flashing Tutorial
All sorts with 120HDD XBMC and lots more.
But as pezzar said no mod or modchip mentioned. _________________ xbox v1.2

its a wondwer they got away with that. Generally if advertise it as having upgraded HDD, you'll get away with it. I know a few people who have had listings removed because they mention the M word

Thanks for all the replies. Here's the update, I opened the xbox and I found a modchip installed. It's called "X-B.I.T" check-out the pictures that I attached. Plus, I found out that the HD that is currently installed in my second hand xbox is a whopping 160GB Western Digital. What is the normal HD size that comes from a retail xbox?
Now, my question is, since I have the modchip installed, what's my next step. I don't know anything about this modchip that is currently installed in my xbox. How can I activate the modchip? Should I download the Auto install and burn the ISO and put it in my xbox? Any tips, help and suggestion will highly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Awsome man.... Looks like you really lucked out. Just out of curiosity, how much did you spend on it? A normal xbox hdd is 10gigs. Whatever you spent, looks like you got a hell of a deal.[/code] _________________

Normal xboxs allow only 8 gigs, but size can be 10 if it's seagate or something. So you got 20 or 16 times more then you should've. The X-B.I.T. mod was meant to mainly work with evox since it's with the same group, but you've got Xecuter bios! Very nice I must say. Anyway, try different switches and stuff, see what you get, but I want to know how much you paid! You may have gotten a great deal.
