Posted: Mon Apr 23, 2007 1:41 am Post subject: My Xbox doesn't respond, can it be recovered?
I had a softmod installed on my xbox. It was working, however it wouldnt load xbox live games with dualboot, nor would it go to the ms dash. I finally decided i wanted to remove the softmod, but instead of doing so I saw the option to turn softmod off. So this is what i did. Now my xbox wont load any games, nor will it load the softmod to do a full removal. No error messages or anything just a blank display as if no video output is being displayed. I can't ftp into the xbox. All of my backup folders are on there and I have an eprom backup on a memory card. Now I am lost as I dont know where to go from here to get my xbox running again. Could someone throw some ideas my way? Thank you..

What softmod version did you use? Can you "coldboot" a game (pup a disc in, turn off the system, turn it back on and allow game to boot before hard drive). If you can coldboot, you should be able to re-run the exploit. If not, you'll need to do a hotswap (http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-161.html) or get a chip. Those are your only two options. With the previous tutorial, make sure to follow that thing to the T. You should be able to boot the disk in and FTP the MS dash files over to your xbox. If not then you need to hotswap. If you don't have a MS dash back-up then thats why you turned off softmods and it didn't work, because MS dash didn't exist anymore. _________________
