If it helps mate, I have recently completed my in-depth FTP and Networking guide for the Xbox. It is available as a .pdf download for all members and hopefully it will help you out a bit.

Do me a favour a second will you, plug your network cable into Xbox and PC.
Then on PC, select Start -> Run. Type CMD and enter.
Then type everything except speach marks:

"ping 192.168.0.3"
Let me know what the response is.

Alright mate I tried your ping idea and I got an error code 65. It tried to ping it something like four times and came up with 100% failure. I can't understand why my computer won't reconize the IP and won't let me FTP. I can't stress how frustrating this is starting to get. I love modding my box but this FTP is really holding me back. I am buying another box from this kid from my school and I am thinking of chipping that one and maybe FTP will work with that? Who knows. I really want to put xbmc on the one i have now and add a new 150g HD I just got. Ahhhhhhh. Oh well. So is it hopeless to continue the FTP crusade with this box? Should I throw in the towel? _________________ RastaCalavera

Listen to what Danger mouse has said. Make sure the ips are correct as default gateway is the same as pc ip as its on a static network. Leave dns ips blank.
Also try another crossover cable, add another app like avalaunch and try through that if still no joy then use different ftp clent like filezilla and its free.
Btw to install apps get AID 3.10 on torrents or xbins

If your ping failed, then there's something definitely wrong. If its peer-to-peer btw you don't need any settings for DNS if your IP is static.
Check IP ranges and definitely check the cable. A lot of probs are caused by the cable being faulty, or the wrong type.

Here is your prob, change your ip from static to DHCP. This will make your xbox find the ip adress. Then try to FTP again. Xbox live and FTP will never work for me if its on static. It always needs to be on DHCP for me. When your in the main menu, put the ip in the bottom right corner in the ip for the FTP. Then put the password as xbox and the username as xbox. As make it port 21 if its not. If your not using a router this way wont work though. _________________
