If you have a chipped box, you shouldn't have to do a hot swap.
It seems to me that you have 2 problems. A corrupt HD and a DVD drive that's not capable of reading the disks you burn.
Another thing, when I burned AID 3.1, I burned it to a Memorex CD-RW. They're cheap and available almost everywhere. _________________ Not quite a Newbie

Bro JackBear, I don't know about chipbox. I see in my xbox have a chip APPLEXV + DVD SamSung + Westen HDD (WD Prote'ge', MDL WD80EB not know size). I have got AID3 on CD ( not update addon pack, cd about 600M) but when i put this cd on xbox it only displayed logo bigX and AID3.04 then it not work ( any menu...). Please help me to fix it. Thank bro!

Thank bro JackBear for reply me. My xbox did not boot anyway. When i powe up, it got error 16.When I put on Slayers Autoinstall 2.7 cddisk the menu display: Bios unknow, HDD C=0 E=0 F=0 G=0...I do anything but did not fixed it. When I put on AID 3.04 DVDdisk,it not displayed the menu... I don't know how to fix it. Please help me to fix it ( simply, step 1, 2...).

I does HOTSWAP recover HDD ( I'm not sure i do it correct: I copy Halo msdash file into xboxhdm\linus\c, then burned it to cd disk) but my xbox still not work. Can U help me to fix it?

When I used xboxhdm that I selected option 1 in menu ant selected 1 againt and then power off my pc, I don't know to clok hdd. I'm not change select jumper in my xbox hdd . Please help me to do anyway! Thank!

You can't prepare, i.e. format your drive without unlocking it, so that means you have to unlock it. Your Xbox will not recognize your drive unless it's locked, so that means you have to lock it after you've formatted it and prepared it.
If we can't get past this problem, your only choices are a modchip or a successful hotswap.
I've never had any luck doing a hotswap, but I've read that others have. _________________ Not quite a Newbie

_ My xbox hdd is formated and i can't tranfer any drive of it to xboxhdm. I'it a problem?

We're kinda going around in circles. Probably I'm misunderstanding where your at.
Are you saying that your Xbox boots OK but that you can't read the AID disk. If that's the case, try burning the AID disk on a CD-RW.
If your Xbox isn't booting at all, you'll need to have a chip installed or successfully hotswap. Read dangermouse's reply to you dated March 9th. _________________ Not quite a Newbie

I'm in VietNam...so my local haven't any shop Xbox and modchip...I only do myselft search any web internet and hopped anyone help me to fix my xbox...U know?
I think i did any wrong for my xbox hdd so that hotswap HDD with Eeprom not successefully( when I type yes and hit enter_ step3, it work long time...over 2 hour and i can't wait more.My Xbox not boot at all. Why slayer 2.7 cd disk displayed the menu on my xbox and both AID cd disk or AID Dvd disk is not displayed the menu???
OK, I'll need a chip installed so I don't know anyway to get it and What about chip installed???
