Hello all im new to the forum hope someone can help. Getting read errors on my xbox (mod chipped) it has a philips drive and was considering changing the laser. The only resevation I have is I also have another xbox (not mod chipped) which will not read disks either, it is a thomson drive and I changed the laser for a new one (supposively) and it still will not read disks. So the main question is is this normally successful or am i better off replacing the whole drive unit. Also can the make of drive be changed does it matter what drive make I use. I have got another xbox on its way that works so could i remove the rom drive and place it in the chipped box regardless of manufacterer. Also got loads of questions about how to install a bigger hard drive but havent a clue where to start it all sounds confusing to me Ive got a 120gig drive I want to install.

Thanks for reading

Have you ever changed a laser and did it solve the problem, the solder blobs have been removed.
