Hi,
I've got an unmodded xbox that I want to softmod. I have a Microsoft memory key, and a friend with a softmodded xbox, so I got him to transfer the game saves and installer for SID 4.5 from his pc onto his xbox then onto my memory key (using unleashx on his xbox).
When I plugged the memory key back into my xbox, the games saves were not there (but another gamesave that was already there was still there).
Just wondering if anyone can help me out here... most of the softmod tutorials I've read talk about using an action replay or gameshark memory key, but I figured the MS one should work fine too - is this not the case?
If it should work fine, can the gamesaves be transferred using unleashx? (we transferred the saves for all 3 games - I wasn't sure which one I would end up using) and if so, was I correct in transferring them in zip format as they are in the installer?
I already got impatient and tried softmodding via xboxhdm/ndure (hotswapped), but thanks to a faulty ide cable in my pc, I got a bunch of errors copying files over so I ended up with an error 21 and had to restore the backed up C drive. So I think I'll try to figure out my memory key problem before I try that again...
Any help would be much appreciated...
Cheers,
Adam.

Ok the easiest way to transfer them is launch M$ dash from UnleashX and copy them to the card from there but a M$ memory card will work.

ok error 21 has to do with missing dashboard files.
Just pop in AID and install a new dash, if AID does not boot, then do what Burner said IF you can get back to MS Dash, but im thinking AID will boot and it will be successful, because if you look error 21 isnt eve on the list here
TheRealHypnotiX: yeah, I thought about trying AID, and just installing a new dash, but I was paranoid I might screw things up worse, so I just restored the C drive backup that ndure created - no problems there, I'm back to a stock xbox now.
Burner6999: thanks - I think my friend used UnleashX to transfer the game save (not sure if he ftp'd it straight to the memory key, or to the hdd then used the UnleashX gamesaves manager), so I'll ask him to give it another go using the MS dash and see if that works.

sorry, two other quick questions...
for my friend to be able to use the MS dash to transfer the gamesaves to the MS memory key, does he need to ftp them over in the original zip format, or do we extract the zips and ftp the contents of the extracted UDATA folder?
also, would I be correct in assuming that we would have to ftp the gamesaves to his E:\UDATA folder in order for the MS dash to be able to access and transfer them to my memory key?
thanks again.

imma suggest you use the SID 4.5 instead. It's more up to date and it has all the games as well.

He's already downloaded the SID 4.5 files, all you have to do is extract the zip files, then ftp them into the correct folder, should just be whatever was extracted, place that directly into the E:\UDATA folder and it should show up as a gamesave on the device. If I remember correctly the memory card doesn't actually have a UDATA folder, it just uses the folder numbers.
Your best bet is to get the save working on the hard drive, then copy it to the memory card via memory management. _________________

TheRealHypnotiX, yeah, i only tried ndure after getting impatient when the gamesaves weren't transferred the memory key correctly first time around... but ran into some troubles... fixed back to stock xbox now though.
cheers sjohn - that confirms exactly what i was hoping to hear.
