Well you can softmod it if you have 1 of the 3 games that you need. Here is everything that you need to know about softmodding http://www.aideluxe.com/manuals_sid45_01.html and if you want to go with a chip let me know and we will talk about that.

So the xbox will not boot or anything? Just error codes? Looks like your only option will be to install a chip. The chip overrides the need to have anything on the hard drive, and will allow you to boot off of homebrew software disks which would be able to install XBMC and all of the other software you would need in order to get the xbox back in a working order. _________________

i dont know how to do it by serial but search around here, and you can open it up and compare the video chips and little pieces around the board... google is your friend.. and if its for a 1.6 and you dont have a 1.6 then ya'll have to exchange...

well I can say this, if you have had that xbox longer than 4 years, then its not a 1.6. but now you got a spare 1.6 LPC board because you wont have any need for that piece. So long as you get the pinheader and good set of instructions to follow then you should be good to go, you dont need to exchange it. _________________

did you definitely order a solderless adapter with it.
you will probably need to exchange it as you dont want to solder

no i didnt order the solderless adp, I read thru the tut on installing the chip and the soldering required is cake work ( within my skill level ).. so i chose to save some money... As advertised it works with all ver of xbox so Im guessing theres extra parts for those 1.6 ver.... Anyways ill post on monday when the parts are here.. I took care and pre disasembled the xbox yesterday. thanks for all the help.... Pushing the power on button after installing the chip is what im worried about..... thanks agian.. Ive owned this Xbox so long..... And Ive only used it like for maybe 20 hours of playing.... So its time to breath some life into it......
