Obviously, you need to solve the video problem first to get an error code.
My grandson's box flashed red & green when the DVD player crashed but that was an easy one to identify 'cause we had an error code and the drive wouldn't open.
Did the person who gave you the box try to install a modchip? _________________ Not quite a Newbie

No, he did say that he kept pushing both the eject and pwr buttons simultaneously then the xbox started to flash.
I may have more problem cuz nephew attempted to repair it. I have swapped out the dvd drive and still the same.
I'll see why there no video display.

Pushing the power button and eject button over and over in rapid succession is bad, could over load some of the circuits, something may have happened during the process of him doing that.

Well let's see...It's not the DVD. It's probably not the HD, 'cause you'd still get video and an error message.
It's not the video cable 'cause I'm sure you already check that.
It powers up but the circuits may have been damaged to the video section.
If you've got access to another Xbox, I'd swap power supplies first. If you still have no video, than it's gotta be a problem on the mother board. _________________ Not quite a Newbie

There's no video display so I can't get an error code. I was thinking on using xboxhdm to format the drive but I don't think I can unlock the HD without knowing the eeprom.
