I can connect fine and I can write fine. Problem is that when I verfiy I get "file contents do not match" as an error. I am using the m7 bios downloaded from the vip section on this site.
I read somewhere that all the bios banks have to be full. Is this true?
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Remy
btw. Should my xbox be on or off while flashing?

Hi Recoil_Remy,
Welcome to xbox-hq mate
Ok.. Have you tried flashing your modchip with another bios?
Just try another bios and see if it verifies..!
Ill email maddogtime because he has a XBIT..
Im sure he will reply shortly.
Our other admins will get to your VIP Ticket ASAP.
3 different bios (M7, X2_4973, X2_4983)
Every bios bank (1-6) with all 3 bios'
Filling up the entire bank with different combinations.
I can connect np. I can write np. When I verfiy i get the error. The bios are not taking.
I am using dms' bios flash utility 1.0. The chip is newer so I also tried dms flash utility 1.5. I could not even connect with 1.5 so I am thinking it is the wrong one.
I am still totally stumped as to what I am doing wrong.
Any suggestions?
Remy

Ok,
Going to a friends house to try and flash from there.
One thing I noticed. If the xbox is not on I am unable to connect properly with the flash software. Don't know if this matters but I am trying to give you guys as much info as possible in the hopes of getting this thing to flash correctly.
<edit> One more thing. If the xecuter bios is loading the word microsoft on the boot screen should read 'xecuter' right?
cheers,
Remy

Hi there and sorry for the late response!
Did it work by trying to flash on another computer? - the USB incompatibility seems to be the one big problem with the XBIT so hopefully youll find a computer that works
No, you od not have to have all banks full - that is my experience anyways - you might wanna try flashing a few BIOS' onto a couple of the slots in a bank, so that you can try each one in succession without having to go back very time to try a new one..
Another thing if you have several USB ports is to plug it in to say the mouse or keyboard USB - that worked for me after my chip had given me grief much the same way as yours.
Hope this helps and plese if you could give a detailed description of what you do that'd be great too
Oh, and you do not have to have the xbox turned on to do a BIOS flash as far as I know. I flashed my chip before it was even in the xbox.

Thanks for the reply Maddogtime,
Ok. Took the box over to a friends. (Actually the owner of the xbox) Tried to flash. Was able to connect but got some funky command errors.
We decided to pull the chip and reinstall giving the d0 point a pile of love this time. I had to leave before the chip was installed again so I don't know the results.
I will try to flash from my keyboard port once i have a chance.
Oberservations that may help solve the problem:
1) The computer can only 'conect' to the xbox when the xbox power is on.
2) I am using flash software 1.0 as the 1.5 software can not connect or even attempt to connect.
3) I can connect with the 1.0 flash software...I can write to the bios bank but when I verify I get 'file contents do not match' and the bios does not take.
4) At my friends house the xbit light turned off when I tried to write. I am unsure if this is true on my computer at home.
5) I want to smash the POS into a billzillion pieces.
Other observations can be found in my previous posts.
Your help is appreciated.
Cheers,
Remy

Hi,
First off, youre not supposed to use the 1.5 flash program unless youve bought the new improved xbit 1.5 chip
Second, as far as I know the light is always off on the miniconsole when you write your BIOS.
It looks like either you have one of those pc's that just wont work with the xbit program or maybe there's something wrong with the chip itself...
Keep trying man.

Hi guys,
I finallly had the time to revist this problem and it is solved
I ripped out the xbit chip and reinstalled this time giving the d0 point a pile of love with a file and Magnified glass.
Things I learned:
1) If you xbit chip is doing ANYTHING funky..follow the above step.
2) Just because the light on the port is on DOES NOT mean the chip is working.
3) USB flashing is flaky. Meaning even after the chip was installed again it did not flash properly on my friends PC but flashed first try on mine.
4) This community is a great tool.
Cheers,
Remy
