I've been trying to boot the xbox as a regular xbox, then select "Settings", then "System Info", then put in Y, Up (Left thumb stick), Down (Left Thumb), X, A

But nothing happens ???

Most of the sites i've searched on how to reformat an xbox HDD just state the above method ??

Dashboard went mental, i need to wipe the xbox's memory

The format method your referring to has different values for each xbox.

That will not fix corrupted files though. What issue are you having?
