If I softmod my Xbox with SID, can I still play Xbox games on it afterwards? Do I have to load up the MS Dashboard in order to play the games or can I simply boot off the game CD/DVD to play it? Does it have to be original games or will copies work?

A softmod can do everything the xbox could normally do and more. So, yes, you can play original xbox games on it, backups, and games on the hard drive (considering the hard drive has enough space). If you softmod wish unleashX as dash (which I reccomend) it works just like the MSDash, you can launch your games right from there.
Now, even if you put in a an original xbox game, unless you have dualboot setup properly and your XBL account already created BEFORE you mod, you CANNOT play these games on Xbox Live! _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."
