ok well i have a laptop hdd and i got the 2.5" to 3.5" adapter so it can be connected to my xbox. Now, it is recognized by the xbox, it just boots to error code 13, which is not being able to boot the Dashboard. Now my question is, where do i put a dashboard on the hdd to make it boot to the unleash x that comes with SID. i have the files im just not sure where they go so it will boot and then i can edit it. If any one has some answers or can point me in the right direction please do so. Thanx in advance.

well since your softmodded, u cant just put the DASH u ahve to build the hdd and lock it with your motherboards eeprom. you can do this by putting your stock hdd back in and FTP over and get your C and E folders, then get your Eeprom.bin. After this ull need XBHDM ill link u to it in a minute! _________________ Hotswap Tutorial|FTP Tutorial|HyperX Flashing Tutorial

well on this hdd i have some memory, that i want to backup onto my home pc. i dont have an external case, so how do i do that?, after that, if i make it a xbox hdd, will i ever be able to use it on a regular pc or laptop again? these are just some precautionary questions for the future. even if i cant i just got a new laptop, so it will be all good lol.

ok, yes u can back it up, as long as the laptop did not have the hdd locked!!!
just hook it up as a slave or put it on cs(cable select) in your pc and load your windows or w/e os u use and copy them over then Format the hdd in windows(my computer right click the drive formatt it!)
If i were you, id stop listening to your friend, all softmoded xboxes require the harddrive to be locked, Period. _________________

basically its m$'s security protocol to make sure u dont mod the contents of the hdd, its kinda encrypted in the bios. if i were u id do a tsop flash and then u should be able to just pop in a hdd and lock it down if u want but u can then pop in aid and install a dashboard. or u can do a 1 click install. _________________

You didnt say you had a 1.6, they assumed you had a more commonly used xbox. lol _________________
