ok, Xbox #1 is modded and working great...now for Xbox #2

I have the Xecuter 3 chip with the X3 bios installed. This unit has the original Xbox v1.1 OEM HD and Samsumg SDG-605B DVD drive.

I wanted to install XBMC on Drive C:, but the Xbox won't boot my AID 3.0 or 3.1 DVD. I used the same DVD successfully on Xbox #1 (v1.4 with Thompson DVD and 160GB HD). I am using FujiFilm DVD+R 16X media.

Any ideas? Should I try the Samsung firmware update or just buy another Thompson drive?

try dvd drive swapping, this way you can see if its just the dvd drive.

Good idea. What else could it be if not the drive? Same chips, same bios, same DVD+R discs...

DVD-R tend to be more compatible across the board.

Since the Fuji DVD+R is the best media for my DVD players @ home, I think I will purchase a new Tommy drive and keep the Fujis--thx again for the help.

Great Forum and Site!!
